Hi! I installed mine (Joyeauto) on a E89 Z4 with CIC and the icons are not square either. You can confirm by taking a screenshot on the iphone. The correct one should be 1280x480 but mine is 1364x480. I have contacted Joyeauto but they kept claiming this is normal and there is nothing to do about it!

JoyeAuto issue with Android 11
Hi all. I have Joyeauto for my i3 for some time and it mostly works with wireless AA till I updated my phone (S20 Ultra) to Android 11. After the update, it no longer connects to my phone - no matter what I have done. I have downgraded the AA app to different versions, trying to delete the connection and reconnect again, trying using USB connection, etc., it just does not connect. I got the connection prompt 2 times after connecting Bluetooth, but seems like it does not connect automatically to WiFi. If I connect via USB cable, it connects for few seconds and then the screen turn black.
My Joyauto firmware version is the latest one - Aug 2020. Trying with their support does not help as they simply asked me to use with other phone. I noted UAD has updated firmware on 21 Jan 21 which seems to address AA connection issue (at least from update note), but I am not able to download it. Anyone has lasted UAD firmware (Jan 21) that you can share with me so that I can test it with JoyeAuto device? These two devices look identical. |

Hi all had this installed into my F30 (2015) this week. So far loving it but have noticed the audio quality when using the aux. Not much support on the internet so stumbled across this useful thread. I wondered, what is the Bluetooth on the actual CarPlay system used for?
If the CarPlay system had an aux connection and WiFi to your phone what is the Bluetooth doing? I’ve not really tested my connections properly but my set up at moment is using my in built usb under arm rest as I like to charge my phone whilst driving, I select usb for my input, not aux. And I listen to my music via my usb whilst using CarPlay. I still think this uses the CarPlay unit for sound as when I change app, say to a radio app it plays that radio app through the car speakers? I noticed others are using their original OEM Bluetooth, to do this tho did you turn off the CarPlay Bluetooth and does this not work when someone rings you? Sorry for all the questions EDIT - ok so had a little fiddle with the connections. Aux sound sounds crap hands down. I worked out that the Bluetooth is only for the phone calls On the CarPlay, that correct? I disconnected the Bluetooth and plugged my phone into the armrest USB and the music sounded better and CarPlay still worked and displayed the music playing. Also the radio apps all worked through the speakers. The only thing that didn’t work was the phone calls. So to fix that, shall I remove the IDCore Bluetooth from my phone and connect to the BMW Bluetooth? What happens when someone rings and your on your CarPlay menu? Thanks all Last edited by MrJinxy; 08-27-2021 at 06:18 AM.. |

I’ve never used the aux it’s awful as you’ve found out
I run my music through my iPhone via Bluetooth to the unit as well as all other apps like google maps etc. Phone calls are fine it cuts music and displays person ringing , cuts back to music once the call has ended. Only issue I have is sometimes I have to select bmw Bluetooth over the CarPlay when streaming but had it for a few years and has served me well |

Hi all
I have a Mini Cooper S F56 2019 with 6.5 touch screen. I have confirmation that my HU doesnt have Wlan port so I can't get OEM apple carplay. I have been looking at these MMI Box's but not sure if they will fit with my car. On FB people say they won't fit 2019 models. I am not completely sure if I have Evo or Entrynav2. I don't have AUX as an option to choose for sound and these MMI Box's use aux. Can someone shed some light on whether these would fit my car or not? Can aux be coded to the car? |

So £470 for a unit to use Android and it still has crap audio output, poor mic/telephone call sound and software issues......
I was really interested in being able to use google maps as the fitted nav is utter shite, my 6 year old tomtom is miles ahead of it! I would have liked to cut down the number of screens, when I do any distance driving the car resembles the space shuttle !!! Last edited by SirMoo; 11-10-2021 at 04:36 AM.. Reason: speling |

The audio routed through the UAD box is terrible (in my version anyway) - so I use their recommended work around which is to switch to the BMW BT connection for audio streaming and calls. Pretty naff that a £470 unit needs a work around to function correctly. I’m happy with mine anyway as it gives me a usable CarPlay solution. Would like a touch screen upgrade though - the controls can be a bit long winded in some apps using the iDrive wheel. |

So, if I understand correctly. Many of you had problems with the sound quality (music and calls) but if you had your phone connected via usb in the middle, carplay worked, music worked, but calls didnot work.
