ACS Springs & Warranty
After drawing a blank with ACS affiliated dealers locally I made an enquiry with an affiliated NON-franchise workshop and now very tempted to pull the trigger.
Despite the rest of the car being fantastic the roly poly-ness of the 335d suspension is wearing a bit thin so its either change the springs or place an order for a Golf R....... So, my preference would be to use franchise dealer for the springs so I have the obvious piece of mind regards warranty, however what are peoples opinions as far as using an ACS approved installer who are not part of the BMW network.? Do we think they are significant risks in going this route? BTW, I`ve been quoted under £600 all in by these guys and even less if it doesn't need full 4 wheel Hunter alignment. And they are a very willing and helpful bunch which gives some added confidence and perception it will be a good job. Cheers Paul |

Bought loads of bits from them over the years but never had work done there before. (In fact I was one of their first customers when they opened their first place in Gateshead. JAMEX suspension and an K&N for my MK2 Astra GTE 16V ) Last edited by Paular; 02-13-2015 at 06:32 AM.. |

There's no risk, we cover the warranty as long as the springs are fitted competently and in accordance with our instructions (not BMW's).
We recommend wheel alignment though, even though strictly speaking it shouldn't be necessary often cars are out of alignment when they get here and we wouldn't like them to leave like that with our suspension on. We've no complaints about Revolution so far. |

Probably just over thinking it. I`ve modded VAG stuff in warranty before (remaps, exhausts, springs) and never had any issues. Once I`m 100% sure I`m keeping then I will get them fitted. Slippery slope then though.... cheers |

Had them fit tyres to my very precious wheels on my WR1 😎 and carry out 4 wheel alignment and few other things. I'd be interested too at that price if i don't change in next few weeks.

The BMW instructions for x-drive tell you to remove the drive shafts and some one-time use bolts. This isn't necessary - the drive shafts can be worked around in position. The difference is about 2 hours' labour, over £200 at dealer rates.

Had my springs fitted by Simon Thorpe, BMW specialist in Grimsby. He said fitting the springs was the easy bit but the camber was so far out it added another 2 hours to the fitting time. (No extra charge). Therefore I would always recommend the alignment check.

Couple more Qs:
1- How do these springs work with spacers? 2- Are there ACS spacers available? if so how much (inc. bolts etc)? 3- Anyone fitted both? Opinions. cheers Paul |

No reason why spacers should be affected by springs that I know of.
MarkG335 runs Eibach spacers with ACS springs, and I just ordered the same set yesterday. I've not heard of any problems.

Never heard of it being an issue before, I suppose as long as the geo set up is done post spring/spacer fitment the all should be good. Just as long as some smart arse in the workshop doesn't pick up on it and make a fuss. Got any details on the spacers? size? price? supplier? Thanks Paul |

"I purchased the parts from CA International (http://www.ca-int.co.uk/products-Y2F...pZD0yNg==.html ). Their website is crap, it's best to just phone them, can't recall the name of the guy I spoke to but he was very helpful and explained everything to me in detail. I initially called them about the Macht Schnell spacers but they explained the Eibach's were better, a bit cheaper and TUV approved (also didn't realise Macht Schnell is American!). Basically the Eibach Spacers come as a pair and so I have two seperate boxes for the front and rear wheels accordingly. Also there is the Stud Conversion Kit. There are part numbers on each of the two boxes but I'm not sure if these are CA's own part numbers or Eibach's 12mm; Pro-Spacer 120/5-72,5-160 S90-2-12-002 15mm; Pro-Spacer 120/5-72,5-160 S90-2-15-001 The Stud Conversion Kit unfortunately came in a plastic bag and doesn't seem to have a part number as such. You don't need the conversion kit, the Eibach's come with longer bolts to fix the wheels back on, however the conversion kit was recommended as they are stronger and safer (plus look better, easier to fit the wheel if you are going to do it yourself etc...), if you are going to change over to winter wheels this will help as the studs are fitted to the hub first so you have something to hang the wheel on whilst you tighten the bolts up."
