Btw, I'm as big a fan of BMWs as anyone, but there are plenty of nice Ford cars as well. With that kind of attitude you won't endear yourself to your new co-workers. (Maybe I'm biased from having driven a Ford for the last ten years. )
Point taken...I'm working at the R&D center where most of my colleagues will have PhDs and masters degrees, so much different than a plant in terms of culture. I think they force anyone not driving a Ford to park far away at the plant, and vandalism could be a problem there.

Our family has had disastrous experiences with Fords, especially transmission problems. Plus, I don't think they really have a model that can compete with a 335, maybe the new MKZ, but I just don't feel confident spending that kind of money on a Lincoln.

Solution - Quit your Ford R&D gig and apply for one at BMW. Problem solved?

The A-Plan pricing is really hard to ignore. Contemporary Fords (2007+) are light years ahead of the cars of yore from a reliability/quality standpoint. But I agree, you won't have an issue with a BMW at R&D. My main concern would be subjecting a nice BMW to Michigan roads in the winter. Check out the new Fusion. It's looking like a pretty damn nice car.

Thanks for the points, and I did check out the new fusion. I thought the 2.0 turbo performed admirably, and at almost 10k less than a comparable 328i I think it's a fantastic deal. IMO a sport spec'd 328 or 335 are going to be much quicker and more enjoyable to drive, but the fusion is a great commuter with lots of cool tech in there. The plan A pricing didn't seem that great, only about 2k off a 34k car which is more or less the same I got off percentage wise for a dealer traded 335 allocation.

Agree on Michigan winters/roads, I'm going to get a second set of rims and snow tires to help with corrosion and then garage the car at night.

Do you have a PW45+ car and did you order Nav? If so, we need to know what you get...NEW or old Nav.

I keep hearing it, but don't want to believe that NA would jack us just so they could hold off a feature for MY14. I know, I'm wrong!

Funny. I used my Nav maybe 20 times in my 2010 E90 over 3 years. For me its the extra stuff that's a bit more interesting. Heads up display, better iPod integration, etc...

My phone Nav is better than the in car Nav (and the maps get updated without the BMW extortion). And, I have a Blackberry 9900 which is old school-ish by most standards. I keep the Berry because its the best data phone for Int'l travel.

So we can start the countdown to the "new-Nav-or-not" confirmation?

I'm hoping for an ED customer to deflate my balloon first.

I'll just visit Dallas and ride with you.

I ordered my car a week or two ago for ED. I'm taking delivery in Munich on Dec. 5th, 10:00am. It's an Estriol Blue 335i M-Sport with the 18" wheels and beige interior. Say hello if you're there.

I'm a bit screwed on my euro delivery date and a business trip. I'm away for work from Dec. 10th through Dec. 14th. As a result, I'm actually flying into Munich on Nov. 28th and flying out Dec. 6th. Meaning I'll be proudly accepting my keys and probably handing them right back. I pray the weather is nice and the streets are clear of ice and snow. If so, I can take her (or is it a him) for a spin.

How suxy and backwards is this? I'm actually renting a BMW 1er for my vacation from Sixt Rent Car. It's a hot hatch. I don't know if they even sell them in the US. I might upgrade to the 328i, but it's a $150 more for eight days, which isn't much. Add in gas, maybe it would be $200 more. I'll decide before a go.

Actually, I need to post my itinerary and get some advice. I planned this trip on the fly.
