We always hear people saying, "I got a great deal on a...blah blah blah"

Do any customers really EVER get a good deal on a car? Is this just a myth?

great deal, is just a state of mind, if you think you got it, then you tell yourself that to be happy. But dealerships don't get rich by giving you great deal...

When dealer show an invoice of how much they paid for car. Is it real? Cause lots of time they are telling that they only make $500 profit over the invoice.

Why is it that every car salesman I've ever talked to knew less about the car than me? Just reading a single magazine review or even the brochure would get them more or less up to speed. They just pretend to know about the car and spew bullshit.

Don't they think that'd be useful for the job to read the brochure when things are slow?

3 things that make a successful salesman

Attitude
Product knowledge
Killer instinct

I actually have a legitimate question. Why is it (at least around me) all the Toyota dealers add that stupid Toyo Care package that adds things like VIN etching, upholstery protection, 2 oil changes, etc for almost $500 to every single car? I don't want that shit, but nearly every car at the local dealers has it done. I know it's easy profit, but you think it would piss off a lot of people. I know I would make them find me a car that doesn't have it done.

one of my buddies is a finance manager at a GM dealership, i couldn't believe how much he was making...of course he hates his job but admits its kinda hard to walk away. Its halarious how much more the finance managers make then the actual salesmen....extra commission for every tiny thing you add to the purchase of the car

That's optional here, if you don't want it, you don't have to buy it, but our afermarket sales reps are all pretty females, hard to say no to them...

that's not entirely true...Finance managers have to sell warranties and insurance to make money, and if you get those deals that are cash deals and they don't buy shit, you make 0 dollars...my top salesman at my dealer makes 200k a year...his bonus one year during that cash for clunker period was 30 grand...Finance managers make an avg 100K a year...

They usually use the UP system and it's basically who's up next, customers are called ups as well.

If you were to buy a car from your dealership, how much less would you pay than the advertised "employee pricing"
