Daily driver FMIC choices......

Next on my list of mods (and the last to do with power/under the hood) is replacement of the intercooler with an upgraded FMIC and new charge pipes. It seems there are a few choices that *seems* to be close to the same size but range within a few hundred dollars of one another - Active Autowerke, Wagner, Evolution Race, etc. For a daily driver that sees some HPDE track weekends during the summer, is one better than the other?

Do you have downpipes?

For a car that goes to the track regularly i recommend the competition series from Wagner Tuning. These are tube and fin intercoolers that weigh a lot less than the standard bar and plate, plus they recover a lot faster which makes a big difference on the track. EVO 1 would be plug and play EVO 2 needs minor trimming but will do a better cooling job.

If you do not care that much about track times you can get Wagner performance, VRSF or Evolution Racewerks. All good options, i will need to know your mod list in order to tell you which one fits your needs best

I do not have an aftermarket downpipe. I have a BPC ECU Flash Tune and the M Performance exhaust. I plan no other power modifications after this and instead will go to focus on the suspension/braking.

If you want the best track time, i would go with a Wagner EVO 2 competition

If you are just looking for better cooling go with Wagner EVO 1 performance or VRSF 5" sport intercooler

How labor intensive is the install/trimming for the Evo2? The car is leased but I may or may not purchase it at the end of the lease term. Either way, I'd rather not do a lot of cutting and trimming.

Trimming will take less than 10 minutes ... I did mine with a kitchen knife

Thanks, Mike! I'm leaning towards the Evo2 based upon your recommendation.

Hey Mike, just wondering, do you recommend the EVO 2 over the ER competition FMIC? and how come?

Both quality intercoolers ... ER is a bar and plate intercooler similar to the EVO 2 performance ... It is bigger in volume but the Wagner is stepped core for more efficient cooling

Im confident that if you do a direct comparison between the 2, logs will look very similar

With the wagner EVO2 stepped, do you have to remove and leave off the FMIC shroud (part 51747401233 (OEM) /51747401235 (Msport)) as on the ER fmic?

Both are ~20lbs and if they have similar logs it looks like a wash between the two. Great for consumers to have choice

They are closer to 25-30 lbs

Wagner competition weighs at less than 19 lbs
