Because it doesn't sound realistic. I can't believe the tyre makes up a 0.5" difference.

Nope, if you going to 10J width, ET should be at least 40 or more even reach 50.

Regardless of how wide the wheel is, if a 9.5" wheel has the same offset of a 10" wheel and the both have 265/30 tires, the tires will stick out the same.

this is false. the tire will stretch slightly more on the 10" wheel, then again the wheel will stick out slightly more. so how far the tire sticks out really depends on how well it stretches

I wasnt able to find a part number but this what I think this is the order code.

S2VFA ADAPTIVES M FAHRWERK Adaptive M suspension

I think this Adaptive suspension should be working Variable Sport Steering function, am I right?

True but the 'high point' of the width of the tire shouldn't really change. Doesn't just the side wall stretch?

I think this is correct... The tyre has a normal width that it is inflated to under usual circumstances. It so happens that the 265 fits with a little extra room on a 9.5" rim. That is it expands past the rim wall to fill its standard width. On a 10" rim, it should be stretched a little. I imagine at the extreme end, a 14" rim would be too wide for the tyre to seat (it can only expand so much). On a narrow rim, such as a 4" rim, the sidewall would keep expanding and either blow out or pop the tyre off the rim.

If this is correct, then tyre choice makes much more of an impact than wheel width.

However, I have no idea what the performance difference is between seating a 265 on 9.5" and 10" rims.

Yup, this is how I see it. Unless of course you are slammed low to the ground at which point the wheel width will also come into play.

I also have Variable sport Steering but that's a different option and not related to the Adaptive M.

Forgestar said my 19x10 offset 38 275/30 ventus hankooks will work. Will they stick out to far?

Dang did you just order 19x10 +38? I'm worried about my 19x10 +45 with 285/30 fitting and yours will stick out further than mine. Wonder why they made mine 45 and yours 38...

Mines coming off a 2010 e92 335i coupe. I was hoping to use the same wheels.

No way that's going to work....

Package will stick out 19 mm (0.7'') farther. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider narrower tires or higher offset.

That 285 may be he death of you.

The +45 should work... with a 265 tyre.

With a 275 tyre it's 8mm closer to suspension, 12mm more aggressive relative to stock M-Sport.

I think it can work as long as you don't plan on dropping the car. It will just be VERY aggressive.

I know that its going to be very very tight. Scott@BMW is running 19x9.5 +38 w/ 265/35 on H&R Sport springs with no rubbing. My setup will stick out 3mm further than his so I think I have a shot. There's also someone in the classifieds selling 19x10 w/ 275 tires and no rubbing and he's slammed. He's not listing his offset but they are probably +45.

I've alread talked with Discount Tire and they said that we can try it and if it rubs, we can just take them off and order a different size. No harm there, I'd just have to wait another couple days.

The good news is that you can always just have them machined down a little to +45 or whatever you want them to be.

Agreed on all accounts. I think your wheel size is good to go, and it's awesome that they're willing to replace the tyres if they rub.

Please get your wheels & car already. I'm dying over here waiting for photos.

Trust me man, I'm dying too! I'll probably have the wheels within a week or so but the 800 number says my car is 'waiting for a boat' so it will probably be another month. Blah!
