Had mine in recently for squealing rear brakes and they did fix them. Not sure how long for though !

The F cars are much more prone to this than the E series before in my experience and I've had 5 ?

agh you got the Shims and pads? what do you think of them. that shim tape ill put on all my pads going forward for the sack of a fiver
Still got the Pagids in atm, will fit the Ferodos when I get time. They don't have any shims or the anti vibration weights on them, and they're not chamfered or slotted, so not holding out much hope for them being quiet!!

haha yea exactly like mine then

i had to wrap the Shim tape over 1 edge (across the back and down 1 side) as my pad was a touch to small and clunked.

i did remove the weight etc from the OEM pad but couldnt get it to fit the DS2500

I've had this for some time (currently just coming up to 10K). Often the problem appears *after* the brakes have been working hard, and it's most noticeable when coming to a stop - but that's probably because there's less road noise to mask it. God knows what pedestrians think about it.

I flagged it to the dealer when I was having my summer wheels swapped over to the winters. They cleaned the brakes, and this seems to have alleviated the problem for the moment. I do recall that this happened when I had the summers put on back in the spring, but of course the squeal came back.

No, I think the idrive states around 16000 miles before front pads are due, however they will probably get changed at my next service which is in approx 15000 Miles (if they last that long).
Having just had mine serviced I was a bit perplexed to see a service due notification for 4400 miles pop up. Transpires it's the front pads which will make them about 18200 miles old once gone. Does that sound about right from others experience?

Ignore the CBS, the pads need to be visually checked. I’m pretty hard on mine and they still had 4mm left at 23k. They could last a fair bit longer but I always change at 4mm because the performance tails off as the pad material get thinner.

Mine has done it from day one nearly. 8 k miles and still does it. I'd read it was something to be expected, so haven't done anything about it.

At the dealer this morning. After a test run they said they could not find anything wrong... standard!

I have asked if they would still take the brakes off and check/clean which they agreed too. But they kept saying that as it is under 12k they would honour this.

It's infuriating. Mine has always done it. I asked the dealer to look at it last service and they found 'nothing'. Something so simple should not happen on £45k car in my mind.

Mine start squealing from time to time, but a couple of aggressive braking manoeuvres and it is gone again. On that basis it hasn't bothered me sufficiently to warrant a trip to the stealers.

Totally agree.

And these M sport brakes are supposed to be the better and upgraded compared the standard ones... :

I highlighted it to the dealer when they gave me a follow up call after buying the car. Just hassle having to take time off and sitting around waiting in the dealer.

If it happens again I will try a few harsh brake applications!

The upgrade is a reason for more chance of squeal. Performance based, squeal is often a by-product. Can also depend on use, changing to a more suitable pad for your use may be the answer. Experimenting with damping the vibrations with different pad shims/greases/adhesives is way to fix the problem.

The 'normal' setup, due to the different design and performance requirements, will be less prone to brake squeal.

They are race derived brakes (fixed calipers), have you heard the noise race car brakes make?

Mine have been fine to date... 60,000 miles now. Changed to Pagids all round @ about 50k due to a warped rear disc, plenty of copper grease applied to all touch points... Not to be confused with the squeal that develops for the first 50 yards or so of setting off - which I have had - which seems to be a handbrake lubrication issue...

Mine do as well, It doesn't really bother me but I reckon my neighbours know when I put it the garage tho. They're noisy f**kers anyway! so what goes around......

A few hard slow downs like a break-in procedure burns off the crap on the surface of the pads & this usually sorts it.

Sorry for bringing back the thread but I have started to have the dreaded break squeak, and it’s driving me crazy!

Is anyone else experiencing this in their new motors? Hoping to get it looked at on Friday.

Since I've had mine looked at they have been fine. Think it was 18th Dec it went in and so far so good.

Agree with you there, I hated it and it was embarrassing pulling up to the lights and getting them looks from other ha! I just used to smile at them

@RustyBitz

Any update from the dealer on your brake squeal? I'm guessing they looking at it today while you're getting the exhaust fitted?

I have the M brakes and the squealing started around 1000 miles from new, taking it in to the dealer next week.
See what excuse they can come up with

Just returned from the dealer having had my squealing M brakes checked under warranty.
Car has done 1600 miles from new
Both front discs and pads need replacing

They are paying for it, so thank goodness for the warranty
