I ordered my car on 3/21. It was shipped from Durbin, SA on May 20th. It went to Bremerhaven, changed boats and finally arrived in Charleston, SC on Wednesday, July 11th. I have a pick up date at the PDC on Monday, July 30th. Long time to wait (four months and a week), but that’s what happens when you want something built the way you want it.

So you do have the power to choose your plant; as well as know what your plant is post-order if you're unsure. http://www.f30post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=128

The problem was I could not find a dealer within 200 miles of Cincinnati that had any build dates open. That is why I went the direction I did. If I wanted a German built car I would have been pushed in the 2013 model with build dates for delivery in September, maybe. It depends on what slots the dealer has open and I didn't want to wait even longer.

I will be picking up my car next Saturday (7/28). 12 weeks in total. Based on the amount of time that took, I see mostly used/off-the-lot vehicles in my future. With that said, I am still very frakin' excited to finally get my car!

From what i can tell I'm still at the port. The Tampa left yesterday and the Toledo leaves tomorrow. Fingers still crossed that I'll be on one of those. Been at the port since last Saturday.
If I don't get on one of these the next opportunity is the Don Juan next week and I'm having trouble being patient

It seems I'm also still at the port (arrived 7/16) & quite likely to get on same boat as you, PhiTauFord, as I'm located not too far from you (just west of B-more).

I don't know how it's decided the order in which the vehicles are loaded, could just be luck of the draw or right place, right time. I watched on the webcam when the Tomar pulled out of Bremerhaven thinking that my car wasn't on it. It took 3 days or so till the manifest said it was.

I however see that my allocation was a German plant, but we didn't see anywhere where that can be changed. Do you know where on the order list that option is? This is for future reference, and for those ordering after us. My car went into production on the 16th, a week early. The transport is the longest part of all of this, for obvious reasons. When I ordered my 135i, actual production only took about a week, but it sat waiting to get to the port for a few days and then to get on a boat. From order to me picking it up took about almost 8 weeks, so within the 6-8 weeks that most orders take. BTW, did any of you use the app "BMW ultimate drive"? If you use the app and schedule a test drive, then you can get a voucher code using the app. It's good for $300 towards your first lease payment, or first loan payment through BMWFS. The small print says it's good for any 2012 or 2013 3 series, but the offer ends at the end of this month, July. MY CA hasn't gotten back to me to confirm my voucher code, and to verify if I can use it towards my 335i that won't be here until after the end July. It's $300, so worth a try. Something is not right with that at all. You state "document submitted on 4/19. Did you receive your production number on that date? If not, then your order wasn't in BMW's system, meaning, not actually ordered. An actual order gets an order number when it's placed. But, your wait is over, and you'll be enjoying your new BMW. I guess it's like child birth, many women forget the pain and agony of labor and birth, and enjoy their new baby. That's a strange analogy, but it just came to mind. Sorry. I ordered in mid June, but my production number was week 30. The allocation my dealer was able to get had a later build week. He had to trade a lot car to get it. Last edited by RPM90; 07-20-2012 at 10:24 PM.. |

I have a 391 production number. I have seen others with higher numbers who's builds started before mine. When I asked BMW about that, they said the number itself is meaningless, and it has more to do with the order in which it is entered into their system.
