has anyone had luck applying additional value of lease return to purchase of new car?
the residual on my car was 50%, but selling for well above that. Would like to get some of that back, but don't necessarily feel like buying out and selling privately. |

you just have to do the math on how much would you net out if buying it out and then prep it (safety, replacing worn out items, like tires, etc for the purpose to attract buyers) and then list it and wait for offer to come. Do note that there will be lots of tire kickers out there who will low ball you and at the same time, your car may not be unique as your 335xi is all over the place.

Car is owned by bmwfs, not dealer. Residual is the fixed amount.
If you get another one, then you get loyalty discount. As far what kind of dealer discount they will give depends on how good you are at playing the negotiation game. I will say with confidence 6-7% is doable discount on the dealer side. |

Hey guys. I got 8% off MSRP on an estoril 440i coupe with mpack 1&2 RWD. I am unsure if the 440i manual RWD will be easy to sell privately after 3 years or not as it's a pretty enthusiast driven configuration. I bought the car for 62k Canadian total, all in and hope to sell for 50k in 3 years. Does this seem fairly realistic or should I expect more of a loss?

Good discount for MY17
In 3 yrs time, if you are trading it in, dealer will likely low ball you by an extra $3K if compared to an Automatic and Xdrive My best guess is, in 3 yrs times, you are looking at $35 - $36K private. Dealer trade in would be around $30K |

Joz - May want to try and find someone to buy out the lease close to the end date and just get some money on top. I got mine through a 3rd party lease buyout a few weeks before it was due to be returned Luckily for me it worked out where the guy didn't want anything in return for buying out his lease but I would have even considered giving him a few thousand if he had of asked. May help you recover some funds.

I just placed an order for a 230i X drive (mineral grey, terra with wood stream, enhanced) for 2% above invoice. I was so tired of the process but now, I feel like I could have done better after reading the US deals. Do Americans usually get better deals than us due to the volume of sales?
I am supposed to get the incentives if any show up in April when my car arrives. I just missed the CNY $888 promo. |

Last time I've checked - Summer '16 - US MSRPs were higher, than Canadian ones.

In California. But I doubt most folks get 5k off MSRP here on a car that stickers for $50k. Even the sticker seemed cheap for what I got for $45k.

Only car I've EVER had that was close to residual was 323ci. Last 335 wasnt even close. They make so many of them and discount(low lease rates) so much that residuals are rarely accurate. |

If these cars depreciate about 50% in 3 years when is the sweet spot to purchase? Assuming you want to keep switching models every 2-3 years. Is 3 year mark best or maybe 1-2 is better

So the number I got is pretty close although I'd thought I could get more off since it was a factory order which means no floor plan or insurance for them. Turns out they have a different system. |
