M Sports Brakes

Does anyone know the pricing of these?

I'm not sure what specs they are.. I'm thinking it could just be the 335 rotors + blue callipers..??

I've been contemplating if I should go m perf brakes for a while now, I am sure some of u are as well. Just couldn't wrap my head around which color would match my black m sports.. the red on black combo has been pretty common, thinking blue on black could be kind of a standout.

Thoughts boys?

I ordered the m sport brakes as an option in the blue so hopefully if I get the car in the next week or so I can show you what black msport car with the blue brakes look like.

i think turner motorsport is selling a set of 2nd hand m performance brakes. They used it for a very short time so would be a good grab

Was there any reason why you ordered yours from the states? I called the dealer and got a quote of $2.7k for the BBK and rear rotor ex workmanship.

I'm sure any workshop that specialises with BMW can fit them for you.

I have the M Sport brakes on EB colour which worked out well. I was told the M Sport brakes are the same as the BMW Performance brakes except for the colour.

I would love to hear from those who has driven with standard brakes and M Performance brakes about the difference in performance.

The M Sport brakes (blue only) has solid rotors and the M Performance brakes (choice of either red, yellow or orange) has rotors which are inner vented providing improved thermal resistance.

Both the M-Sport and M-Performance brakes have four-piston aluminium caliper on the front axle, two-piston aluminium caliper on the rear axle.

The M-Sport & M-Performance brakes are the same size as each other, but larger than stock brakes.

The M-Performance brakes are suitable for wheels 18" and larger.

Nothing during day to day driving on public roads.

Take it to the track if you will and the M Performance brakes will outlast stock brake fade due to its greater thermal resistance because of details in my post above.

That's all.

Can't be right.. if the dealer told you that get him to provide u with the m performance ones. The m performance ones have a diff rotor size and they are slotted

Yes J1n is right. There is one difference...BMW Performance discs are slotted but size is the same.

That kills it for me.

I am looking for more initial bite.

So do you have stock factory brakes? I do and mine bite down very hard very quickly. Maybe you need them seen to.

Mine are the same, if anything, they respond too quickly! I was thinking they would settle down a bit, but 8000km in and they still bite instantly.

I have M performance Sport Brakes. I can't speak for the 335i, but on a 328i the difference is like night and day. I recently drive a loaner 328 x drive and the brakes do not compare.

Yes mine are stock.

I was being sloppy with my post there. The "problem" per se is not perhaps initial bite. I came from the X1 which was based on the E90 and it just feels like that the 328i's brakes are not as strong. I don't believe there is a weakness in the braking system and it could be due to improvements made to lessening drivetrain losses and lower rolling resistance tyres.

Not in a million years do I think my brakes aren't up to the job and perhaps it is just a case of getting used to the brakes (like I am only just now gotten used to the lighter steering effort and lack of feedback after more than 3000km). But I wouldn't mind something that feels stronger.

I just called the bmw parts department.. enquired about the m sports brakes.. they didn't have any clue what i was talking about.

Asked for pricing again on the m performance brakes gave me a whole different story where the brake kit does not come with the brake disc..

Sigh.. apparently I have very high expectation for people to know what they are talking about.

They are all like that.

The sales who sold my Dad a new X3 20d told me the X3 30d has a 4 cylinder engine with a much higher tune.

there was a good post in the brake sub forum about this, I think by RPM90. I understand what you're saying and the brakes themselves aren't the issue, I think spending the money on the performance kit might end up being a waste and the solution lies elsewhere.
