ODB power question

Hey guys

So I'm thinking of getting a dash cam that wires to the ODB port. My question is is the ODB port always hot or does it power down when everything else does? Car is a 2016 328i

The cam has motion sensing so always hot would be nice. But then I'm worried about draining the battery. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I don't think it is, but why would you want to power it from the obd2? That makes little sense to me.

Which dash cam is this? Wonder what the reason for a dash cam plugged into obd2 is. I wouldn't want the dash cam to read or save any info.

Seen a few videos on it and I like how it is totally hidden. Don't want one that can be seen. To many break in where I live. Don't want to always have to pull it out and put it up every time I drive.
