Technic and Kyokio, thanks guys. That's exactly what I was looking for.
I have another questions, on the photo of the Porsche, it appears the rear wheel is much more concave than the front. Is that the case, or is it only an illusion? |

Actually that is backwards.
The higher the ET, the less concave because the center of the rim is pushed out, or the outer diameter is pushed in. Thus decreasing concavity. The Cayman's rear concavity, which looks awesome, is because as the above poster said, a staggered set-up with a wider wheel. But, it is a factor of larger wheel width, not a higher ET.

Concave
I have 19x9.5 all around but my rears have offset 40 and fronts have 45. My rears are more concave than the fronts even though they are the same width.

I was trying to simplify it but it didn't come out right. With positive offset the larger the offset the more convex it will be, and with negative offset the larger the offset the more concave/deep set it will be...

Offset can influence how much concavity can be had in a wheel but it does not define concavity. You can have a flat face wheel regardless of offset or width.
Concavity is a combination of design, offset and wheel width. |

Ya it depends on your zero offset. If your rim face seats with the lip where your hub mounting surface is then the statement I made is true, and always will be. If the hub mounting surface is at zero position but the rim face meets the lip at an offset (out towards the front of the wheel) then you will have concavity even with positive offsets.
