Hmm, this is complicated by many factors. Do you have sausage fingers, work out etc? To many variables. Maybe call your SA back and see if he/she can help narrow it down a bit.

Because the static electrocution is real ! What is your procedure ? I am afraid of electrocuting myself and having to go through the hassle of suing BMW...

Help please !! This is urgent.
Put gloves ON, what are you crazy?! Your gloves should be on before you even open the door, you can't touch that car with your HANDS what if you get DIRT on it!

Hey it may be funny to some but its painful to others.

If my car isn't as clean as the day I picked it up I have trouble sleeping until I get it that way again.

I check my clothes for lint, hair, and dirt before I get in every time and keep a fresh set of clean clothes in the trunk just in case I brush up against something dirty, make any kind of contact with the ground for any reason, or have some sort of encounter with an animal.

If you really cared, you'd just drive naked all the time.

I had an issue with this on my Subaru Legacy GT. Turns out that the latch needed to be cleaned. I ended up spraying some PB Blaster on it to get all the gunk out. Closed pretty easily afterwards.

Bonnet or hood closing.

I just picked up a new M3 and like many of you found the bonnet hard to shut.
Problem solved follow bonnet shut with both hands in contact with the corners by headlights extra weight of hand pressure closes bonnet with a sturdy clunk.
Keep your fingers clear by clenching fists as you push down.

You are risking to dent the hood by pushing it. Learned from experience.

I gently push it shut until the door clicks the first latch then give it a swift and firm nudge with my hip around the center of the door to completely shut it. I don't like the idea of slamming it.
i'd be concerned about swirl or scuff marks from where your hip is hitting the paint

ok I agree slamming hoods can be an issue, remember some rich guy bitched about his kids slamming the doors in his Gucci car and he complained to the dealership, who convied this info too corporate and they deemed it a legitimate gripe. So they got ahold of engineering and two yrs later we have soft close doors on cars, all from someone making a observation... Now. I agree with the o.p., I hate any doors, trunks, hoods slamming shut, just a idiosyncrocy of mine, so lets just see if we get a soft close hood in the next couple of yrs from some manufacture as I feel this is a great idea and wont be hard to due on a BMW, with the current hood, I could due it with two of the door soft close kits... but it would never pass the D.O.T., Any engineers up for a challenge...This is not a necessity but a gimmick just like soft close doors, but none the less, on a Gucci car a very nice option..

OMG I'm so glad I found this thread. My car is ten years old and this happened the summer of year 1.

I pulled down the sun visor with my bare hands! My bare hands!!! I was so beside myself that I rushed to my SA (luckily he was there late that night). After I explained what I did and seeing me in tears, he immedaitely called someone. I knew then that this was very serious. 20 minutes later two men in white coats put me in a straight jacket and took me away. My wife had to then convince them that she needed me more than they did. So they let me go. But here I am ten years later with my sun visor still down and I can't find a single instruction guide or advice on how I should REALLY be pulling down my sun visor. Well, also the proper way to put it back up.

I am SO thankful for finding this thread. Anyone have any advise what the correct procedure is to pull up or pull down my sun visor?

I've been told that this isn't good for a car in general and have always tried to aovid it but when I tried easing it down and then pushing it shut it just wouldn't click. I don't want to dent the hood by pushing on it too hard.

How are you guys closing the hood on your F30?
Just let it drop. Gently of course, it won't work if you try to drop then push it cause there is a double latch.

The front lip of my hood caved a few millimeters when I dropped it. I was holding the hood with both hands shoulder width apart and dropped it from about 12 inches. This happened about a year ago and I haven't opened the hood myself ever since in fear of doing more damage. No one else has noticed it but makes me want to get rid of the car every time I look at it.

Part 4 and 5 can be adjusted so that the hood doesn't droop, or dropped too far causing damage.

I'll have to check those on my car, but if they came out of the factory speced correctly then my hood shouldn't have been damaged. I've never touched those and didn't even know they exist.

You don't; you have your passenger reach over and shield your eyes as necessary......
