I don't know if you are suggesting he say hard instead of harder, but if so then it would be incorrect because in some races the harder tire is a soft tire (e.g. If they run Super soft and soft tires as the two slick options). In this instance you would call the soft tire the harder tire.

IMSA and the American LeMans Series beg to differ...

...though you have regular LeMans Series and Le Mans itself...so I guess its a moot point.

You only have to look at the F1 team budgets to wonder where the money is spent.

As for Le Mans, well it was invented over here and the big teams plow loads of money in.

Audi spent [ rumour ] close to £120,000,000 developing their turbo diesel for Le Mans.

That would run a low end F1 team for a year/

Agreed. Nothing has changed except for the accent of the main announcer. I was wondering when they were going to cover who-went-where and they didn't. Showing scenes from last year was a waste of time. How about some scenes from testing? How about a closer look at the new cars? How about some in-depth analysis of the rules changes? The show was not a preview, it was a recap.

I live in Germany and am trying to figure out the best way to watch the races. I have the BBC, but they don't broadcast all races -- some only highlights.

Sparky 68, thanks for posting the video. There just isn't any formula on the planet that comes close to F1.

Wow you are really serious about saying things that everyone in this thread understands...

Guess I shouldve added an emot to my last comment, it was meant to be tongue in cheek.

Also why did you even say your original comment? Who said that Indy was more advanced? Are you just trying to plug how much better europe is than the states?

Ive lived on your side of the atlantic, you guys have your own set of problems.

F1 is slowly making a comeback and ALMS is fantastic in the US, shame for the whole Grand Am buyout, but im sure LMP cars will come back here at some point.

Grand Am is decent road racing and not for nothing, im really tired of europeans talking down to American racing fans like were idiots.

:edit: sorry im venting, I work a side gig for GRC and we get these same types of people talking down to our version of Rally Cross

Ok, so P1 was scheduled to be on live at 9:30 p.m. (EST) this coming Thursday.

It's apparently been displaced by college basketball. Sweet.

P1 and P2 now back to back beginning at midnight. This what others are seeing?

No, not suggesting that at all. I'm suggesting he just pronounce it "harder" like it's supposed to be pronounced, instead of "har-DER" (putting the accent on the 2nd syllable like we're idiots who wouldn't otherwise understand that "harder" doesn't necessarily mean "hard"). The fact that he says it like that over and over at every race is really insulting and annoying.

Where was the NBC Sports live stream? Last night during the race whenever I went to the NBC Sports page off http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/ I could navigate to the Formula 1 section, and it would even say "Live stream" but clicking through would bring me to a live blogging web page where there were notes about each lap being posted in realtime in text, not video.

I saw a lot of the before/after features in 3-minute video clips on the NBC Sports site, but where was the actual legal live feed from NBC Sports? Nowhere to be found?

Yep, I just wait a few hours for BBC to release the coverage on iPlayer and watch it with better commentary and production value.

There are major problems with the american coverage. Having the hosts not present at the race is a fundamental flaw that can't be ignored. No other coverage of the sport whatsoever on the network. F1 is lucky if it gets 10 minutes of talk time on NBCSports and SPEED together.

I personally prefer Varsha over Diffey, I do like Matchett but Hobbs gets rather annoying as he gets lost too much as to what is going on. I could go on but we all know the basic problems of the coverage here. It's up to a network to produce something better with the sport.

Does Sky's coverage of the GPs include commercials during the race?

Sky does not have commercials. I prefer the BBC. But Sky torrents are a lot easier to find for some reason.

That beings said. The sky coverage is still pretty good.

Well, I for one was quite happy with the NBC product this first week. First of all, I have DirecTV and Speed was always only broadcast in 720p and still is. NBC is 1080i so thats the first improvement. The audio is great as well as the announcers only come out of the center channel and all other speakers are the noises from the race. Sounds fantastic. I also like that when they cut to a commercial, they keep the action going in a small window. Although I'm watching it the next morning, still cool. And finally, Matchett and Hobbs are same as always, you love them or hate them but Diffey is much more exciting to listen to than Varsha was. Nothing against Bob but Diffey can keep the attention of my 8yr old and thats a tall task. All in all, Im pleased

I actually didn't mind the coverage at all and was completely shocked when during the commercial breaks (which everyone on this forum used to complain about constantly) they had the race playing live on one side of the screen!

My only response to those who feel they are being talked down to is that F1 is not a mainstream sport and they are trying to change that on this side of the pond. If you turn something on and don't understand it, you're going to turn it off. That's just reality. The sport is a tough enough sell as it is because it's a moving target. It's not like baseball of football that is always on at roughly the same times when people might actually want to crack open a beer and watch it. When the races jump all over the place, many times into the wee hours of the morning, you completely lose that potential audience. We are the die hard fans, however there just aren't enough of us at this point to stop dumbing it down for a first time audience. I love F1, but if I didn't have my TiVo I would probably only catch a handful of races.

It's a lose-lose because it's annoying to watch as a casual viewer AND as a die hard fan.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I thought the coverage on NBC was much, much better than it ever was on Speedvision/SPEEDTV. What an awesome race too.
