4AT - Diamond Black Trim - Removing Scratches

Any advice/product recommendation on how to get rid of light scratches on the super high gloss black trim? My car is just over a week old and already I'm seeing scratches, particularly on the iDrive console.

Thx.

I tried Megs plastic scratch remover and it was ok. I then tried Quixx paint scratch remover (skip using sandpaper) and it was really good. Should coat the idrive console with 3m though. It scratches way too easily

After *A LOT* of searching, I ended up with using Novus.

http://www.novuspolish.com

Novus #1 Cleaner and polish

Novus #2 Fine Scratch Remover

Takes some time and patience. My scratches were fairly light, hairline scratches.

Thank you for the info! I just ordered the Novus starter kit with 1, 2, and 3.

Have you tried the 3 (heavy scratch remover)? I've got some scratches that I think may need it

I didn't have heavy scratches, so I didn't use #3. I would try using #2 first and see how far it gets you, even if you have to try a few applications--the black trim is just clear coated acrylic plastic so its fairly delicate.

My process was as follows:

-Swiffer away dust

-make sure you use a lint free cloth/wipe!!!
-Use Novus #1 to clean the surface
-Use Novus #2 *the key is TAKE YOUR TIME* and don't use TOO much pressure and remove the scratches
-Use Novus #1 to clean and buff once again.

Hope this helps.

Do you think this product would be the best to use on the exterior Sportline trim, aka the gloss black strip on the rear bumper? Or would it be best to use a normal series of compounds like on the regular exterior paint?

For exterior plastic parts, I would probably use something else. Maybe something like Meguiar's Plast-X Clear Plastic Cleaner and Polish as one of the posters mentioned?

I have Plasti-X and it says that it's not to be used on painted plastics. Is the exterior gloss black piece on the rear bumper pained or solid black plastic?
