A guy called Running Man with some attitude started the thread and kept teasing everyone by not divulging the results. Ended up with many being pissed off with his attitude. Got a bit heated. Really quite fun.

The guys on the 7R forum are a good bunch, very enthusiastic without being over-the-top, very helpful and knowledgeable. Nearly as good as those on here. I am getting to know them. They are very much into PMs.

You can't beat a good debate! It's funny when people can't back up their statements

If it's the golfR forum they are quite a biased lot, but the same goes for most brand forums.. most cars have their weaknesses and their strong points but a lot are too blinkered to see. I like my BM's but in no way am I brand loyal, to much good other stuff out there.

+1

A good debate is what helps improve a forum and most things.

Everyone is biased to a certain point in time.

You spend x pounds on something, you defend it, however 2 days later after buying something else, your bias tends to shift lol.

I am definitely not BMW branded, there is a hell of a lot they do that's totally rubbish, however I do like my car

However I want migrate to a golf, i have thought about it in past it just does not fit in with my lifestyle - no way will I buy a golf Estate !

They are and always have been excellent cars though.

That is an ugly duckling and then some. I have named it Golf GLA (Grand Long Arse). Horrid.

Come on F30 you can drop the '7' now. Its a Golf R no one is expecting the old one

End of the day, it depends where you read. Others are saying the new seat leon is better than the golf r and quicker, cheaper. So each to there own! I am not BMW bias as currently i have both cars that i can drive. 335d and the Golf R!! Lol

Next week ill be using the golf for a few days to see how i find it with fuel, driving pleasure etc.

I'm a Golf lover and mine is a lowly GTD. Bought it for the wife and drive it loads more myself. A nice Golf attracts so many admiring looks and comments it really is surprising, more so than any of my previous cars.

My Golf R should be arriving next month. Getting built as we speak hopefully lol.

They are definitely a great all rounder. Itll be nice to compare to our F31 335D performance wise when it arrives

Not interested in PCP. Total waste of money on a depreciating asset. I am now leasing directly from VW Fleet, main London Dealer. The cost is so low that at first I thought there was a catch. Will keep the car for 2-3 years and go for something else. I have no brand loyalty.

No suggesting you are either, however I would just point out that there are still pensioners who are thieves. Not sure about chavvy though... probably pikey is more likely!

A thought lease periods were fixed? Or are you taking out a 3 year and can opt to leave the agreement earlier?

Has anyone driven the 7R and compared it to the A45? Different price league but interested to know if it's more involving that the A45? I drove the A45 and it was superb on B roads, just a little inert..

I have. The A45 AMG has a horrible ride, is not as well made as a 7R inside or outside, costs too much, is not any faster in the real world, has quite bad turbo lag, a vulgar dashboard, less room inside and I dislike its looks.

The 7R is a much better drive than an A45 AMG.
