I haven't but seem to remember a few of the US forum members going down this route. I can't find a link but if I recall correctly they pointed to the ride noticeably firming up, with some saying it was a bit much for their tastes. As ever with these things one person's hard ride is another person's sporting.

•Your BMW has been designed and built to extremely high standards to achieve optimum performance economy. Neither the Manufacturer, the selling BMW Dealer or any BMW Group company in the UK can be held responsible for modifications to the vehicle which lead to defects, unless those modifications have been approved by the Manufacturer, an Authorised BMW Dealer or a BMW Service Authorised Workshop.
so if my alternator dies.. they will have to explain to me how my lowering springs lead to it failing. I don't have adaptive suspension for the reason so I can lower my car or replace the springs and shocks for coilovers or air suspension at one point. therefore im not too worried. I am first name basis with some of the lads at my local bmw I am there every week ordering parts for classics. I don't think they would try it on as they know im fully conversant - ill have a word with them and see if they will do it. they are only springs. The ACS springs don't lower enough so they aren't really much of an option for me. Last edited by nas80; 06-18-2014 at 07:55 AM.. |

If your xdrive driveshafts go a b0ll0ck for example they may have cause to refuse fixing it under warranty if they think the lowering may have contributed.
There was some concern originally about the xdrive ride height being as high as it is due to the front drive shafts. But the fact BMW are prepared to fit ASC springs this may not be true. Nonetheless, its a gamble fitting non approved parts.

I have to write a lot of warranty background for our products and it will put the onus on the individual.
Being friendly and mates etc, is different to them trying to put through a x thousand warranty claim against BMW UK. At the end of the day, warranties a bit like insurance policies are a basically a gamble that something does or does not happen. So yes alternator dying, not linked to springs, however drive train, tyre wear, tracking. Older cars, yes no problem, done same myself, brand spanking new... I would want a very good warranty on any car critical part. |

tbh I think I may have been persuaded otherwise, I don't think I want to face the bill if my transfer box dies.
I think my only options are to - fit the acs springs. See if hartge or alpina can fit and supply something that's a tad lower maybe 30mm |

They will be a list or documentation some place detailing approved suppliers of alternative / approved parts. They may have a list, it's one of those things it's worth asking about. |

ACS have more than springs as suspension options btw. They do a fully adjustable coilover kit too and it has much more potential for lowering, plus alsp rebound and compression adjustments.

See scope of warranty. If any of the parts listed fail, as a result of AC Schnitzer parts being fitted, we will cover them for 2 years, or until the end of the UK 3 year BMW warranty period, whichever is longer. |

The price depends on the exact spec of your car, but you can find it by choosing the relevant options here: http://shop.ac-schnitzer.co.uk/3-ser...rom-4628-p.asp

H&R springs
Hi,
I have H&R springs on my adaptive f20. 25mm drop F&R. Ride in comfort is about the same as sport mode with oem springs. In sports mode, ride firmer but still comfortable on UK roads. With stiffer, shorter springs and low profile tyres I found tyre pressures become more critical. Trial and error, for me 35psi all round works best.
