Still smiling. Getting used to the drive and it just gets better and better. Acceleration in sport [+] mode is super quick. In Eco mode its sluggish. I've started jumping between modes depending on desired acceleration.

Really really happy.
Did you find the first couple of hundred miles that the mpg was lower, around the 32mpg mark?

Glad to to hear you are loving the car, it's a great drive!

MPG depends on where you are driving really, if it's town work then will be low. That sounds low to me as I have the luxury 328i touring on loan from brand new and it's never shown less than 35 MPG from day one, I just did the Norfolk to canary wharf 37 MPG @ 5.30PM, returned 6.30PM leaving through heavy traffic out to and on the M11 @ 75/80MPH all the way home= 36MPG took less than 2 hours. this has been the same since the first few miles were I could get 40MPG grannying it in ECO-Pro.

Yes, I have had this Luxury 328i touring for a month almost now, covered 1650miles so it's well run in.
Still no sign of my 330D MS touring
To be fair to BMW they consider me a very good customer as I usually buy new BMW's every year. It pays them to look after me I suppose.

Believe it or not it was due 2nd week October !!!!, then the story goes "19" wheel delay" and so on and so on, yesterday it was "the whole BMW Listers network" went down
So could not access the system, my response was "has the car been damaged and if so I will be having the paint depth checked", they said no so I wait.
I bought a new Lexus some years ago and a friend found ( in the Car paint shop business ) 5 panels had been re-sprayed, I rejected the car after only one day and it took 6 months too and fro before Lexus rolled over.
Apparently Lexus have their own paint shop On the docks for just this purpose, anyway NO more Lexus for me.

Not a peep from my dealer either.

One of our F30s was supposed to be built BW44. We are now entering BW46 and the other one is for BW48. Hope against hope, but maybe the BW44 car became BW45 and I got the new Nav.

I wish they would keep one informed. So much easier if we could track the production, shipping and delivery processes ourselves.

BMW have this too. It is up in Thorne. All cars come into the UK (e.g. Southampton), then travel up 200 miles to Thorne. They are prep'd and if needed any paintwork or bodywork sorted. I guess this must be rare.

http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/about/cor...n/?siteID=1364

They then go to the dealer.

I thought this to be a big part of the "we have no idea where the car is" scenario, cars bought in piled in docklands then waiting for Transport to thorne then another wait and more transport etc, no wonder it takes so long to get cars to the right places.

Just spoke to BMW, they say "as of January this year" all unsold cars end up at thorne, but cars south of the country come to dealerships direct from Southampton.

Seems strange logic... either they need to go to Thorne or they don't.

It must have saved some time on delivery of a car yet again 3 weeks late.
PS) they have agreed to do the same if I need the car urgently

SO,

Car BW44, shipped Week 45 and in Southampton, to Dealer Week 46, delivered to customer Week 47. That's me this year and next year.

OR,

Car BW44, shipped Week 45 and in Southampton, to Thorn Week 46, to Dealer Week 47, possibly available for delivery to customer from Week 48. For the orphans.

Nice!

Most efficient!

Company policy change as of January 2012, could be the slow delivery times?.

From my dealers mouth: BMW UK ask for the money for the car "when it lands in the UK"
I am confused by this but I am getting old
So am I to believe Listers keep the total moneys in their accounts till delivery to the UK is confirmed?.

Seeing how they come in to the dealer, I doubt any work gets carried out in Thorne. Maybe shipping blocks and wheel covers removed to send back for the next batch?

Was trying to find the map earlier, they have a paint building at Thorne.

Sorry didn't mean they didn't. I am talking regular delivery process. I would imagine very very few cars get damaged in transit.

To be fair, having the paint building doesn't mean it's used I guess. Might be an old thing.

Was just looking, not sure why but I ended up reading about Thorne for my M3 delivery...

All I can find is this now:

http://pad.doncaster.gov.uk/AnitePub...s/00522694.pdf

"New vehicles manufactured in Germany were imported through the port of Immingham
and delivered to the Vehicle distribution Centre at Thorne for onward distribution to
dealers across the country. However, since 2007 BMW commenced to establish direct
delivery from the port of entry to the dealer which is a more efficient operation and
reduces movements and costs. Some of the key activities now include pre-delivery
inspection, valet and distribution for BMW’s sole UK showroom at Park Lane, London.
The site is currently experiencing capacity issues particularly in respect of the body shop
area which has increased as BMW has been appointed as an official partner of the
London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to provide 3200 vehicles to support the
initiative for use by officials, guests and competing teams."

So seems they are gearing for port to dealer. Which makes sense to me!

I ended up having to have paint on my M3 less than 1 week after it arrived (they glued the carbon fibre performance spoiler on wrong and it had to be removed before replacing). I was very concerned and discussed rejecting the car with the dealer - their reply "you'd be surprised how many new cars have paint work done to them on arrival".

So who knows!

Mat
