Oil and Microfilter Service, Indy or No.
I have just been quoted £320 by HR and Owen BMW. For oil and microfilter change at 73k mileage on 428i.
I have a monthly on going warranty, if I use an indy then service with original OEM approved oil and micro filter. The warranty should be apparently fine. Is that true?. £320 for oil and microfilter sounds like a lot. Unless I'm being too tight. Cancelled warranty and just go indy. Or pay this premium. BTW the website is quoting £240. Please advise. |

Going to an Indy provided they use decent oil and OEM filter won’t affect your warranty.

Phone your dealer for a quote, and then ask for a second quote if you provided your own approved oils. My first bill dropped from £330 to £117

If after entering your reg, the website is giving you £240 then that's what you should pay at any BMW dealers.
I had this issue before when being billed higher even after service have agreed to honour the BMW website. It was swiftly reduced when I pointed this out. |

Genuine parts are covered for a year under warranty with an indy and two years if fit by BMW. At that mileage and if you are not on finance I would go with an indy you trust/already know. Otherwise knock down that price! £240 sounds better.

Thank you all for your responses, I am going to ask my local indy to compare. I think £240 from the dealership is more acceptance than £320.
The car is now over 4 years old and not on finance. I have just kept warranty since BMW honors it until 100K. Where can I buy OEM BMW oil and microfilter? Please provide any links if available. Thanks in advance. |
