Looks good IMO

Are you thinking of painting existing wheels? What process and how much does it cost?

I have a set I'm thinking of doing this to for winters

Are you going to paint your 19's? It's going to be one of those personal taste things, looks good on some cars and others not so great.

I kind of like black alloys and was looking to sort something like this myself, the only thing putting me off is the way they hide the form of a nice looking alloy and the tyres always look crappy compared to the wheel, think it's the difference in shiny black alloy and a matt rubber finish which tend to go brown by the end of a weeks driving etc..

Also, I would say MG would suit a gun metal alloy really well rather than a black one, my car is AW so I could maybe get away with the contrast look.

Its about 260 for the 4 in colchester wheelworx plus the will repair any inperfections at the same time and it will be powder coated.

Like the look, someone on here has done the same with their F30 MG and it looks really good IMO. I'm thinking of doing mine in a graphite colour, sand blasted and diamond cut. Details on spacers from anyone with them would be good

Careful if you are on a PCP or lease, might cause problems if / when you decide to get rid of the car.

Standard finish will be easier and cheaper to repair in future than the standard diamond cut.

I had to referb the old car back to standard before mate. I think changing the 403's back to original from whatever colour i decide to do shouldnt be too much of an issue tho.

It would be a shame to take pristine OEM diamond cut wheels and paint them a solid colour, with the chance they have to be returned to diamond cut and lacquer when coming to the end of the lease.

Better to buy individual curb rash wheels of ebay until you have a set then refurbish the set in a solid colour, you can then sell your OEM's or keep them for the lease return scenario.......just saying!

The MG with black M403's does look good though

The other issue is that your losing your 3 year warranty if you do paint them.

Garage List
Black wheels don't look good to me. I remember when most cars came with black steel wheels, with silver covers. Seeing a car with just the black wheels looked cheap. Nowadays looks like a lazy finish with a rattle can.

I tried a few variations on the 19" F32 Msport wheels by altering the inner paint colour, while retaining the diamond cut finish. Slightly darker grey and graphite grey contrasts. It will make the wheel look larger - I see BMW are also offering this style of finish on the F36.

You can see a few of my tests here :

Mate you have an awesome talent i would love to be able to do that! I think you guys are right with the warranty for them.

Maybe 405's might be a better option at leas i will be able to take them across to another car. The 403's will be pristine in the garage with the runflts still on them leaving me with some 405's with normal tyres on for the car.

Black wheels are drug dealer/Halfords Special. Not to my taste at all.

Now Gunmetal can look very classy however.

Black wheels can also look rubbish unless the tyres are shiny. In the photo of the MG 4er above I couldn't help but think the black wheels were cheapened by the tyres looking to be a lighter colour. Not an issue with anthracite.

So guys what you reckon hold on for a set of 405's or respray the 403's take in mind i have had a quote for 260 for a colour change and refurb. For a repair of my already badly kerbed 403 to they want 90 quid for a refurb for one alloy.

Strange one because i actually like the wheel tyre contrast. Then again i leave the wheels on our mg car uncleaned to give the gunmetal (brakedust) look
