How is Lumbar Support with no Premium Pkg?
Hi All
Trying to finalize my order and noticed you lose power lumber support if you don't get the premium package. Is that the only difference in the front seats? Can anyone with no-premium speak to how the seats are with no lumbar? |

If you get the sport line or the m-sport, doesn't lumbar support come with the sport seats?

Yeah, the website is confusing as hell:
Standard feature on 328i: 8-way power front seats; includes 2-way manual headrests, and driver memory with 2 presets for exterior mirror and seat positions Sport Package adds sport seats which is described as: 8-way manual adjustable front sport seats with adjustable back bolsters, and 2-way headrests and thigh support. Premium Package adds: Power lumbar support in the front seats adds four ways power adjustment for the lower back. So, if I order a 328i with Sport Package and no Premium Package, I should expect: Lose power adjustments Lose driver memory No lumbar adjustment Can anyone with Sport Package and no Premium Package verify? |

So, like MINI, the seats are not "devoid" of lumbar support. They just lack adjustable lumbar support.
Gotcha. In a Corvette, for instance, when you don't get the adjustable lumbar feature, you get NO lumbar support. It's like sitting on an ironing board. Last edited by jmatero; 08-13-2012 at 08:01 PM.. |

Just a comment on power-adjustable lumbar support - Went without it on a 335i w/ sport seats, then with it on a M3 w/ sport seats, and would never go back to not having it. The fact that you can change it up is very very useful, and the movable area is huge.
I was quite surprised how adjustable it is. It literally moves half a foot up/down and the in/out adjustment is cushy and significant.

I think eventually with all these a la carts, "This package has this and part of that but not that. But you can get this separately, but not unless you have this. But not if it is a 2012 blah blah blah" BMW will stop and pull themselves out of the rabbit hole and start offering things that make better sense.

I think the thing to remember is that the sports seats DO have pretty aggressive lumbar support. What they don't have is adjustable lumbar support. It's too bad they couldn't do a manual adjustment and power 4-way for the premium package.
I sat in a sport seat this morning and retracted the lumbar all the way into the seat back and found it uncomfortable. In other words, ALL lumbar support was gone at that point. I'm hoping the non-adjustable models have more support that the adjustable do with it completely deflated. |

Standard power seats are 8-way (forward/back, up/down, seat tilt forward/backward, backrest tilt forward/backward). Sport/M-sport adds adjustable thigh bolsters for 10-ways total, without lumbar.

Did anyone ever think of retrofitting better power seats? I bought dealers car with all fancy options like head up display, but this idiots didn't put power seats there. And my biggest pain is my girlfriend who uses my car quite often and memory option would be very useful for us (we used to it since E93).
I know that retrofitting seats themselves is not a big deal - but programming it to work and adjust according to key I use (auto-adjust depending on profile feature). Any ideas? |

Sport Leather /w no Lumbar here and I hate it. I still can't find a perfect position to save into the seat memory as I adjust it almost everyday. Lumbar really helps straighten me out. Should of went Premium!
