Out of all the spy shots I've seen, I only think I dig the F31, but I don't know why. Seems BMW's design philosophy is just to make different sizes of the same car. 5er is a mini 7er and 3er is a mini 5er. I'm not really liking the direction they're headed in.

This rendering is from a loooong looooong time ago - among the first renders. It's not based on anything up to date.

This may be more accurate...
Looks somewhat similar. Seems they changed the hood, headlights, and few minor adjustments...Do you think it will be a huge difference like from e46-e90? I don't want my car to look obsolete! I do wish the mirrors were more oval shaped than boxy like the Z4 I think it gives it a more sporty look.

That's why I've always thought it pointless to buy a car in its last model year unless you're in love with the design because as soon as the new models hit the streets you're going to feel like you're driving yesterday's model---which you literally are.

In my opinion the last few months or year the BMW news has been rather all over the place. Now I heard they may rename the 3 series 4 series and have a 2 series as well, or rename the 1 series the 2 series...it all seems like they are trying to appeal to everyone - as one person stated and bottom line is they can't do this. BMW is BMW known for certain models...so a smaller 5 would be the 4 and a smaller 4 would be the 3 and so on...no real difference. Overall I think, as this article states, BMW is moving away from its brand and trying to reposition itself. Interesting article if you haven't read it...and yes I believe it is true (as the article states) the brand still stands for, or should stand for, an exciting ride for people who love to drive. Same thing here. I didn't like the E9x's when they first came out, but gradually started to like them. I now own an E90 and I'm quite happy with how it looks (and of course, how it drives ) I'm sure the same thing will happen when the production version of the F3x's are finally out; It'll be a few years before they'll appeal to me, then I'll start wanting one, and the cycle will begin anew.

Well I guess the term "sports sedan" is gone and "luxury sedan" is in (as far as the styling goes)?

I like the headlight's aggressive look, but I think the twin kidney grills needs to be a bit bigger, with more attitude. This render's grill reminds me of the old 8 series's grill.
