I bought mine in 1998, so it was about 11 years old at the time. It was in pretty good shape though and had a sunroof (boy was I cool with a sun roof!) even though it leaked when it rained really hard and collected water than spilled out when you hit the brakes... |

1996 Toyota Camry (4 cyl., DX).
Parents bought for me new when I turned 16... I retired that car @ 208,000 miles in November of '07 for a new 4Runner. Car got me through high school, college, and first 3 years of work without leaving me stranded or giving me major issues. I learned a lot about cars with this vehicle... Toyotas may be boring and not really up to the quality that it was once known for but I will never put anyone down for choosing a Camry as their ride... |

My first was a Honda CRX HF, 97 horses and 14" wheels ! It was cool then.
Had 3 roommates and 4 cases of beer in it once (don't ask how we did it), drove from New Haven to Boston and back for a weekend party @ a friend's. |

mine
My first was a 1967 Pontiac Firebird. That was in 1978. It was more colors than the rainbow. My dad paid about 400 for it. I got it when I was 18. It was a good ride though. It had a 326 four barrel with a 4 speed and posi-traction. The first car I bought on my own was a 73 Chevrolet Impala two door with a 350. Nice big car. Got me through college and into the military.

91 Honda Civic DX when I was 17 which was in 95 - DX means it had an air conditioner, radio and nothing else. 5 speed manual, roll up widows and something like 80 horsepower
Drove it through college, from 46k-146k. Only started to act up after I ran it into a cab. |

First ride
My 1st car @ age 16 was a 1952 Rover 90, 4 dr. sedan with rear suicide doors !
Purchased for $300. The car was solid, except for the rotten floor boards which I replaced with plywood and it's performance could best be described as leisurely, but the interior had genuine English leather seats and burl walnut trim - similar to my M Sport !

1990 Ford Escort, 4 dr, white with red velour seats. (I hated it, but at least I wasn't taking the bus during high school). I was only too happy to move 3000 miles away to college and let my dad sell it for me.
I promptly then bought a 95 Jetta!

91 Nissan Stanza (which Nissan replaced with the Altima in 93 i think).
It was a 5SP and that scored me some points with friends. Oddly enough, the car was such a base level car, it didn't even have a Tach......still strange to me considering it being a manual transmission. Dad handed it down to be with 145K on it, and I got it up to 195K before getting rid of it when needing something a little more reliable to get to and from college.

1970 Firebird, bought in '74. Had it painted candy apple red with a nice coat of clear. Black interior. Deep dish Craigers.
My roommate ran a '63 Tbird, a very cool boat that was in a continuous state of repair. |

1987 325 when I was 16 (1997). Cinnabar Red coupe with Houndstooth cloth interior. 5spd of course with 137k on the clock. My Dad paid $4250 and I made weekly payments to him until I graduated from high school. I plan on purchasing a 89-91 325is when I start to approach my mid-life crisis.

My first car was a 1987 Chevy Celebrity back in 1996. My Dad who was then in the car business brought the car home for me when I was 15 paid for in cash. I remember having illusions of grander that I was going to get a brand new Mustang GT and originally turned my nose up at the car. Talk about having my priorities out of line.
