Hello all

I’m new to this forum so thought I’d introduce myself.

I’m a long term BMW enthusiast and have owned a great many cars, some good and some not so good, I think it's only right if I run you through some of the highlights of my previous vehicles. I’m 36yrs old and started off my petrol-head journey with an original mini clubman, which a friend and I dropped a metro turbo engine into, it was great fun, until I rolled it. I then went through a fast ford stage, couple of XR2’s an XR3 and then a series one RS turbo, also went through a bit of a French stage owning some old classics like a couple of Peugot 205 GTI’s 1.6 and then the 1.9, a Renault 11 GT Turbo, a Renault 5 GT Turbo and finally a Renault 21 Turbo. Then after playing lots of Gran Tourismo I hit the Japanese scene quite hard starting off with a Nissan 200sx, a 300zx, and Skyline GTS and a Civic Type R ep3. Then one day I stumbled upon an old E30 325i Mtec II with the 15” BBS cross spokes and since then I’ve not strayed from the BMW roundel (apart from a brief and regrettable experience with a Mk5 Golf GTI) so my beemer history which is the most relevant is as follows:

E30 325i – Dolpin Grey with black leather
E36 328i Sport – Silver with black leather and 17“ Alpina‘s
E36 M3 – Boston Green with LTD edition M3 GT green leather and grey alcantara vaders
E39 530i Sport – Black with Black Leather, 19” Hartge split rims
E46 M3 convertible – Carbon Black with cinnamon leather, SMG II, Rockford & JL Audio install
E39 M5 – Carbon black with Silverstone/Black two tone leather
E39 530i Sport – Silver with Black leather
ALPINA B10 – Silverstone blue with Imola Red Leather, 19” softlines
Mk5 Golf GTI – Black with Black (don't ask!)
E39 530i Champagne II – Black with champagne leather 18” paras
E93 335i – Le Mans Blue with oyster Dakota leather, Msport kit, 19” wheels
E39 M5 – Carbon black, black heritage leather ///M Audio, rear blind, glass roof

The latest M5 has just been sold, and it was a sad sad day, but with a 3month old baby at home running a 5ltr V8 that barely got into double digit mpg just didn’t seem like a responsible thing to do anymore so I’ve ordered a new car, which I’ll hopefully be taking delivery of this week just in time for Christmas.

With this new purchase I’ve tried to combine some pace with some practicality. It’s also my first ever brand new car, and I have to say I enjoyed the experience a great deal. Being able to spec the car exactly as I wanted was really good fun, so without any further waffle, here’s what I’ve ordered:

F31 340i
M Sport+ package
Mineral grey with Coral red leather
Fine anthracite wood trim with pearl chrome inserts
19” Orbit grey and silver wheels (forget the No. code now)
HK Audio
Panoramic roof
Heads up display
Heated electric leather
Pro Nav with enhanced Bluetooth
Full LED lighting front and rear
Comfort access
Media package

Got a few plans for it, the MPPK looks good although it'll have to wait until I've got my bonus next year. Also looking at the Bavsound sub upgrade, but will wait to hear the standard HK set up before ordering anything, I'm a keen but very amateur detailer and have invested in some kit recently. So looking forward to seeing what the state of the paint is and how much I can improve it.

Panoramic roof?? Really.... I didnt know f30 were offered with that!?
