The F20, as I said before, looks like a lizard but with a deformed snout. I do somehow like lizards but I have yet to see a white lizard. BMW white looks more like cream most of the time. Not nice.
Perhaps the lizard will be more aesthetically pleasing in a metallic hue. Silver is rather nice as it shows off the flame surfacing to good effect. EBII is best. I must admit that compared to the Mk7 Golf the F20 is very cramped and is seriously claustrophobic in the rear. I have driven the M135i. Compared to the Golf 7R it was a poor also-ran IMO. Also driven the lower spec models with manual gearbox which were courtesy cars. These cars are truly horrid in every way. There was not a single aspect that could save them from the dust bin. ETTO.

Cream? I think your eyes are messed up, AW is very white and nothing like cream, given the choice between a golf or 1 series I'd take the 1 every time, the golf is chave central

But of course you would and you did. But I still think it looks cream.

Also the inside felt a bit bland and basic for such an expensive hatchback. But none of it rivalled the awful chassis set up. Maybe it's a good idea to go FWD on 1/2 series, can't imagine it'll drive any worse! |

There doesn't seem to be much love for the 1 Series, I think the face lift looks promising plus new engines!
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/sc...t-launch-2015# Are you sure you don't want to wait for the face lift in a few months? Unless you really aren't bothered then that's fine but you must be a little bothered and interested in cars as you are a BMW forum member. I would hate to buy something for it to replaced with something newer, better looking and more modern a few weeks later, I wouldn't be concerned at all saving a bit of cash. Don't listen to the missus either, buy the 135 (face lift). |

Say it like it is why don't ya....
I think it's quite a nice looking car in m sport guise. We don't always like the same things do we. I think EBII is the most God awful hideous colour known to man but lots of people seem to think it's the best thing since sliced bread. |

On another note, have you seen this year's Top Gear DVD? The Golf R is in it being compared to the A45 AMG, albeit fairly briefly.

Lord, how I hate that Merc. The dash reminds me of a used tampon. Externally it looks like a pregnant frog. It can have all the power in the world, but I just could not live with a ride that would fuse my liver to my spine. Hard as a corpse on Viagra. Its arse is just is ugly as the F20's snout. They should join the two together and then we would have the fugliest car in the world. Fast though and enough for it to disappear from view and not make one puke.

We bought a 120d M-Sport for my wife new last year so I had a direct comparison to my 320d M-Sport.....
Everything was ok with the car, the ride was a bit fidgety and the cabin slightly cramped but it just wasn't 'doing it' for us. It was bought when my head ruled my heart and we bottled out of getting an M135i, we were trading a MK6 Golf GTi which had 300bhp My single most expensive car buying mistake ever made We now have a Fiesta ST which has a low rent interior with a centre console like an 80's ghetto blaster with the exception of the Recaros which are fab. But...it's an absolute blast to drive, surprisingly gets loads of nice comments from strangers (which the 1 series nobody looked twice at lol) and my wife has classed it as her favourite car. To the OP I have to choose a new company car next year and the 125d is top of my BMW list so will be really interested in your experiences once you have the car and how it drives....look forward to the pics |

Nice car and nice spec!
We considered one as well but the wife really fancied the look of the new mini. The 1 series is an acquired taste and took a while to grow on me, but I really like it now. It has character, great stance and proportions, and with xenons the lights look ten times better.

Aside from the looks the lack of space and practicality is a major issue for anyone wanting to use the rear. They have succeeded in making it so tight and small it's incredible.

It's a great driving car. I have no issue going from my 335d and driving my wife's 120d m sport x drive. It's fun to drive, responsive, handles well has no creaks or rattles. I think you will find it a step up from a golf. They are so common especially with vw making the strange decision to put out Golf R's for £150 + vat a month on a 2 year lease. Add to that the IHI turbo issue and I think VW have a build quality issue introduced into the mark 7. A friend who has had several mark 6 Edition 30s handed his new Golf R back after 4 weeks and 800 miles. Not a good recommendation.

Nice spec and sounds a good choice to fit in with what she needs.
Not sure why there are references to a Golf R etc, the choice is for a car with no high overheads. It makes a big difference (to he anyhow) having a nice specced car and the right toys for helping with driving (xenons, elec seats, heated seats etc). Remember the review when you eventually get it |

That was quick especially compared to my nightmare this time last year. Should make a nice Christmas present for us 😜 |
