Comfort Access Bootlid (Trunk Lid) Opening

Does the "foot under bumper" method work well? Or it's a hit or miss affair?

I had problem first then I went to my ca and he told me you have to keep your foot in motion. I would only kick it and not retract my foot but I learned the proper way of doing it is to kick and retract your foot bcuz the retracting motion allows for the trunk to open.

I had difficulty getting it to work at the first dealership, but the car was backed up close to a wall, next dealership there was nothing behind the car and it worked flawless. A short sharp kick under the rear bumper in the center of the car. Also you cannot be too close to the trunk. It might be a safety feature so the trunk lid does not hit you in the face.

It works flawlessly. Think of it like you are kicking a ball that's right under the middle of the bumper. Swing your foot in and right back out. It seems the swift out motion is the trick to make it work.

Not sure about others but my issue is that the trunk is hard to latch. Unless I close it firmly and pretty much right in the middle, it doesn't latch too well. Anyone else notice this?

+1 There's a learning curve....But once you get the technique down pat, you will wish all your vehicles had this feature!

Yep, I agree that this is the main part that some people don't do is that swift out motion after you do your kick in....

Once you know the technique, it's as easy as can be. It is indeed the swift out motion that does the trick, I've seen others try but they all thought it was the kick in instead. Just use a smooth motion and it works perfect. I sometimes even do it sideways and it still works (btw, I mean standing sideways from the car and then swinging from left to right, not standing straight and then swinging sideways lol)... hell, I even got my 2.5 yo doing it

It seems like the problem people are having is that they are treating it like a motion sensor is present under the middle of the bumper. Just waving around will not trigger it, and a forward kick underneath the bumper will not trigger it unless you pull the foot back (or out) as well. That seemed to work when I tried it on an F30.

Think Hokey Pokey;

"You put your right leg in,
You put your right leg out. . ."

It works wonderfully well.

I don't know how well this feature will work in northern states during the winter months with the sensor being coated in road salt. I guess that could be said with all external sensors and cameras.
