Hi, i'm new to the f30 scene and trying to get information to enable ebt, my car is 2013 and when i go to configure bluetooth the only option is telephone does this mean i need to code it using software and can you explain what a comboxis and do i have one? thanks

Cheers for posting that. I’m more interested in getting ebt right now and am looking to start doing this myself via (hopefully) bimmercode. I’ve posted in the technical forum here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...5#post22766525

..appealing for help (along with others) on this, hopefully we will get some advice. I will look at doing the voice stuff at a later date as shawnsheridan has told me it requires FSC coding (if anyone can actually tell me what that actually is that would be good and how it differs from vo and fdl coding haha) which I believe is much more advanced, so may pay for that down the line if I ever feel I really want voice commands.

No worries , happy to help if needed . I can code the EBT for you too with Esys no problem if you have the combox.

An FSC code (I think) is a system, like a license file or code, that BMW has put in place to attempt to control the loading of software into their cars.

FSC Codes, short for Freischaltcodes (Activation Codes) are Digital Certificates issued by BMW AG for car VIN , signed with their Private Encryption Key, that enables the coding and use of certain features (e.g. Navigation, Voice Control, Sat Radio, BMW Apps, CarPlay, etc.)

No, it would be easier to fit an NBT head unit and screen which has the combox built in. Which would obviously give you the advantages of pro media as well.

FSC Codes are not something one normally needs to worry about. Unless retrofitting something that needs one, it is irrelevant. As for Coding, 99% of all Coding are FDL Code based, and they are on Cheat Sheets and built into E-Sys Launcher. VO Coding is seldom used, with EBT being the primary exception.

I am going to FO code for EBT. My car is May 2015 with business media.

1. Where I have seen pics of the silver combox in this thread, mine is black. Smooth cover with no cooling fins. What is this?
2. Do I have the combox built into the head unit. If yes then I just need to do the FO coding and then FDL code the options in demig's post #368
3. I have previously done about 15 FDL settings changes. These will be returned back to standard when I do the VO coding?
4. Doing the VO coding will cause no issues for future FDL coding?
5. I should VO code the gearbox mod at the same time I do EBT?

1&2 yes that means the combox is in the HU, just follow the guide in post #1

3 only the fdl changes you’ve made to the hu

4 no

5 might as well

Ok I think I’m going give esys a try because I would prefer to VO code EBT than do FDL coding for this.

I saw shawnsheridan’s postmodern a while back that shows how to do this: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=722706 if you are around could you confirm this is still relevant to a Sept 2015 with ENTRNAV with S6ACA SOS call and S6AE TeleServices (is this the same as connected services?? I’m sure I have that option, Christ BMW makes it difficult sometimes!) there for should I use the 6NL code?
