It's HERE, BMW FINALLY has an iDrive update for NBT

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/con...re_update.html

UPD05062. Among the mentioned fixes, the annoying track info not updating problem, Bluetooth playback problem on Apple devices.

UPDATE: Only for NBT vehicles with production date March 2014 to present or vehicles whose firmware has been updated to the version from March or later.

I'll give this a try, but it still doesn't list support for the iPhone 6 and iOS8. As I've posted here recently, the current NBT version does not allow me to use the music search menus on my iOS 8 devices.

Thanks. I have a May 2013 build. So this latest release isn't for me. Not sure what this means. Does that mean BMW is no longer supporting anything prior to March 2014? (That seems insane). Or will they come out with additional updates for older builds?

I just updated this on my Oct 2013 build NBT.

TN 002.255.062
MN 002.255.060

I'm surprised the update took, but it's probably because I'm on a later I-Step (F020-14-07-503)

For me it says the update "UPD05062 (23.1 MB)" is "for vehicles with production date from March 2014 to present". Where did you see July 2014?

I think you got something confused there.
There are 2 updates available:

- UPD05062 (23.1 MB) - Update for vehicles with production date from March 2014 to present
- UPD05021 (33,6 MB) - Update for vehicles with production date from July 2012 to February 2014

So, if you car is from May you should use the 5062 update. If if is prior to March (03) than you must use the 5021.

The update says it's good for my VIN. But I have an iOS8 on my 5S. Does that mean it won't work?

I have iOS 8.1.2 in my iPhone 6 with the old version and it works.
This is probably the "tested" iOS and iPhone.

It doesn't make any sense why you need a build from March 2014 for the newest update. "UPD05021 is for vehicles with production date from July 2012 to February 2014". Why are pre-March 2014 NBT grouped in with non-NBT cars?

+1

I verified that UPD05062 works for my pre-March 2014 build car. No noticeable issues during my commute to work today.

I'd be interested if cars with earlier I-Steps will have issues with this one.

Gutted, doesn't work for me. I got my NBT updated by the dealer a while back to istep 51.2 which allowed me to enable Siri via coding but the car is insisting that this new version update is incompatible. Somewhat annoying given I coded the apple protocol/Bluetooth cover art at the same time as Siri and this update fixes this feature.

Figures, my car was built in February.

EDIT: Weird, I put in my VIN and it worked anyway. My car was built in early February, I remember because I ordered mine January 25th and tracked that thing religiously.

Interesting. The new iDrive system came out with July 2013 production (the start of the 2014 MY). Wonder what is different with the March 2014 and newer builds.

Looks like there's an update for CIC too. I now have UPD01008 available to download. The last one I had was UPD01006.

Can someone confirm? Looks like new...
