Input on adding the 3 mods-charge pipe, down pipe and JB4
My car is stock and a 2012 F30 335i. I have been wavering what to do and want simple, no issue bolt on's that will wake the car up without giving me any codes or issues. As of now I would just do the above 3 items and then maybe an IC if need be later but no other performance mods. I would then go to some suspension or brakes.

The charge pipe and JB4 will not throw codes on your car. The downpipe will if you go catless however the JB4 can clear that. For inspection for the downpipe you'll need to do one of the downpipe fixes listed on this site or spend the money on a catted downpipe. It's your choice in the end but the downpipe and JB4 will wake up the car the most and make it a blast to drive.

Getting the IC at the same time as the charge pipe will save you time and money on labor

I plan on installing myself and thought I read that the charge pipe can be installed fairly easy without removing the front bumper and could be done within an hour. Is that accurate?

But not from all emissions tests depending on what state you're in. I'm not sure about AZ, but you should check what kind of emissions testing they do before going catless...

Your thinking is like me--minimal mods for maximum gain. That's why I only go with those three mods as far as performance. Great setup--this is how the car should be stock. For my needs an IC or intake is not necessary or worth the cost. The CP will take more than an hour and you do not have to take off the bumper. As said, DP may cause issues for emissions requiring you to remove it.

OP never mentioned illegally passing emission test. He asked if these mods throw a code.

I would say failing an emissions test qualifies as an issue. Just wanted him to be aware that just because the JB4 clears the code doesn't necessarily mean he's completely good to go.

Thats a valid question and point on emissions. AZ is fairly strict with regular emissions testing. So essentially I really cannot do a DP because they are catless?

You can, but will have to remove it for the test. Depends how often they test and how often you want to swap the stock one back on.

All high flow downpipes (catted or catless) are not emission legal

Move to Florida and you wont have to touch it again. We good here, no emission test, no front plate, nice weather lol. But we need IC.

Well AZ has great dry weather, can't take the humidity and no plate needed either up front. We have emissions testing but I guess I don't know the extent of what I can do before it causes issues.
