Dude horrific. I back into the garage it smells like crap.

I drive around with the window open and at lights it stinks so bad I gotta roll the windows up. My wife tells me wtf dude you smell like tar all the time now when I get home. I had a hiflo sport cat before and it wasn't nearly as noticeable , she never said anything like that. Besides it's bothering me too how bad it stinks.

I only did the catless cuz I did a stage 1 turbo but I'm going back to sport cat ASAP!

You won't pass. You need to replace the Cat and then take it back off

I has the same issue with an 85 monte Carlo ss, I had to put the original carburetor in order to pass. Once I cleared I put the performance one back on.

Few of these to the right person might help you pass.

It's only $50 extra here to get them to pass you

I can honestly say I don't really smell anything. I'm catless with 3.5-4 gallons of E85 and even my wife (the bloodhound) hasn't said anything about the smell.

IDK why but I've been noticing the smell a lot more lately. It wasn't as bad back in summer.

just get a test pipe setup and run an OEM like truck cat somewhere in the exhaust thats on flanges. When you go in for testing, jack the car up, take the straight section out and install the flanged Cat, then go get tested. then when you pass the sniffer go install the straight pipe back in place. Will probably need an o2 simulator though for that method to work.

Doesn't smell bad at all. Only when in the garage and it's not that bad. The sound and power makes up for any smell the some girl might complain about

this thread went from passing emissions to smell.

if you go with a sport cat, you should pass, no? i thought the jb4 helped keep the CEL hidden.

So... How are you guys passing Inspection with Catless DP?

I was thinking if worst came to worst, just switch the OEM Downpipe for inspection and then switch back. Its only once a year.

I also heard that if you were to drive with JB4 in Map 0 for a little bit, then you would still be able to pass Inspections. However I have not had this confirmed.

I just throw on the stock downpipe and knock out my annual dealership visit and get my emissions tested and then throw it back on. I can change it now in about an hour and a half. I put it up on ramps the night before so everything is cool and easy to work on.
