Not sure about dyno results but I'm willing to bet that without supporting mods, any gains received from just bolting it on wouldn't be anything to write home about.

Get it for the sound, it is worth it

In terms of gains, you will not notice any power increase unless you are fully bolt on. And even then it is not going to be a big increase

I have the injen intake installed for mine and it's very nice! In fact I got mine through Mike at Extreme Powerhouse. It's the best deal around! I feel a power gain but did not really put it on a dyno but it sounds amazing! Also get an ER charge pipe too! Save money on labor also the two combined made my BOV louder and it sounds great!

I know some people say cold air intakes can sometimes make a car slower, that being said, has anyone noticed any decreases in performance with this intake?

Has anyone had any trouble driving through big puddles with this intake? Has anyone gotten water into the intake?

The intake of the filter is located on the top most part of the engine area and should not have any issues with sucking water. I think you're thinking of the cold air intake where the filter usually is located at the lowest part of the bumper.

the intake is well designed from the factory. I think a downpipe would yield more noteworthy gains on a turbo engine.

Just take it out before you go in for service, only takes like 15 mins

Nope - and I don't take it out when the car goes in for service. They've never had an issue with it (or the BMS S1 either).

Sorry for replying to this post 6 years later but I've got the same question and it seems that there is a lot of discrepancy on whether or not actual performance gains will be seen with an aftermarket air intake on the n20.

I am considering buying the Injen Short Ram Air Intake for my n20. Current modifications are JB4 (map 2 w/ 93 Octane Gas), VRSF Charge pipe and downpipe. Given that my car is running significantly higher than stock boost is it safe to assume that an air intake would yield real hp/torque gains? I don't really want to make the purchase if all I would be getting is better sound.
