I didn't want to go with a Tesla yet because of their quality issues. Tesla will be viable option in ~5 years when it comes time for me to buy a new car. The Model S is more expensive than the 330e, but also a lot bigger. I'll be looking at the Model 3 next round. I could have bought a basic Model S, but a well equipped one would have been quite a bit more expensive.

6 month update
Well it's been six months and the car now has 11 000km (6 800miles) on it. I have to say that the 330e has been an awesome machine to own. During daily commutes it is super efficient, quiet and a joy to drive. In bumper to bumper traffic the best thing to have is the active cruise control; I'll never again buy a car without one.
The car got a new front bumper in August, because the car came with a registration plate back-plate drilled to it, although I insisted the dealer not to put one in. The reg plate is now on a nice angle which gives the whole car a more aggressive and sportier stance. Right after the new bumper was installed the car also got protective film put on it to the bumper, side skirts and a few other places. The same time the new bumper was installed my BMW M Performance carbon wing had finally come in and it was installed the same time. I also had the standard M sport diffusor covered with carbon tape, which looks great and now matches the wing. I had my summer RFT tires changed to non-RFT Continental tires, because of the road noise at higher speeds. The summer tires are on 19" BMW M Sport 442Ms that came with the car and my winter tires (Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2) are on 19" BMW M Sport 403Ms. That's all for now, thanks guys

Good looking car! I'm very jealous you can't get the M Sport brakes here in the US...it's a nearly 3900 lb car-which is one of several reasons I did not do the 19" wheels-much more prone to damage, bad ride, more expensive, less grip on imperfect roads, etc. The M Sport suspension totally changes the car-stump-pulling fast torque out of turns and battery weight need that extra damping, for sure. I went Alpineweiß:

Nice car you have! I've been speccing up something similar to replace our F31 320d.
As fellow Finn who is considering buying 330e I'd like to ask couple of questions. I hope you don't mind. Firstly how is it on winter? I mean driving / braking - does the hybrid system upset rear on very slippy surfaces? Secondly when the car has been sitting in garage over night, does it fire up engine or can you simply drive away with electricity first few miles? I've heard that on cold temperatures ICE is actually firing up and running for some time, but how about finnish "summer"? |

Damn!! Those e cars look damn good! I wouldn't mind driving an E car if it looked like that.

Looks really nice! Really like those stock wheels, and the subtle carbon fiber pieces make it look great.
One thing, do you like that M-performance side decal on the side skirts? You have shiny gloss black paint underneath that sticker, take it off man!!!! |
