I had quite a few rattles in my car when I purchased it. I know there were a few in the console area, I started fixing them right away. Since this is my line of work I enjoy diagnosing things and fixing them. Honestly it's a 1st year run and there will be little issues like this with every manufacturer.

Some of the rattle fixes I posted I already fixed months ago, but I see so many people complaining I decided to take everything apart and share what I did with you guys.

Describe a little more in detail or can you pinpoint exactly where it's coming from? There is one more part I fixed in the console, but it literally involves disassembling the whole console to get to the rattle. The 2500 rpm buzz does bring back memories lol for me it was every time the car was under load the exhaust vibrated loose parts.
Dd1981, your DIY tips are very helpful. Can you describe the 2500 rpm buzz exhaust related problem and fix?

I was wondering have you find any more locations where you had to put foam type.

Thank you.
Not sure if you were able to solve it, but my car has the same issue and looks like it's coming from the plastic above the footrest near the odb connector.

Hi Guys,

I struggled with this as well but got it resolved 2 weeks ago when I took it to Crevier BMW in Santa Ana.

The shop foreman took a test drive with me and was able to figure out where my rattle was coming from.

2 things were addressed (on 2 separate occasions): an AC compressor line (there is a service bulletin from BMW on this) and another part in the steering column area, the name eludes me right now, something like "ZLC"? but I will post a reply once I get that paperwork in front of me.

My car is completely quiet and rattle free now and I didn't have any service issues like scuffs, scratches, etc. when I got my car back.

I have a new love for my car and I'm really enjoying a noise free cabin when accelerating from a stand still.

FYI,
Tim.

I have a rattle, more like buzzing, coming from the steerint column too. But it's more like the plastic piece right behind the steering wheel. When it's buzzing, if i put my hand on it, the buzzing stops. Most of the interstate and highway in WA are concrete so the plastic piece would buzz almost all the time. It took four trips to the dealership, including a test drive with the shop foreman, before they could figure what i was talking about. Even now, after putting foam and felt pads in the steering column (i think that's where they put it), the buzzing has not completely gone away.

I'm currently on vacation (out of the country). I will be sure to check my paperwork and report back, when I get home this week.

Hi guys,

I have the F30 330d and also hearing noises... not so nice indeed!
Since yesterday the noises are getting louder and I have a new one that seems to be coming from the front right. When accelerating with medium power it sounds like going with your nails over an old school comb.. dd1981, your guides are brilliant. I'll try a few things this weekend. Hope to find the source as it's getting me mad haha

Was it like a buzzing sound coming from the vents? That's what I have currently.

This mother**er right there was going crazy and now thanks to you it is in place and doesnt make me wanna drive off a cliff.

I used this..1/16 inch thick tape, this is the best size one can buy, dont wanna go too thick for rattle fixes as things wudnt go backtogether.

I have this rattle that occurs at start up when I power up the A/C. It comes without fail each time from the center console. Anyone have the same issue?

I also have this rattle from the door pin that's driving me absolutely insane at the moment!

My car was first 2012 model. What about yours? I was expecting that issue was addressed by now. I am wondering if there is a reason why BMW stopped using slogan "ultimate driving machine".

Not sure mine was July 2011 build from what I remember I don't have that car anymore. AFIK they still use that language on commercials that I see I have not heard anything about them doing away with it.
