Just a reminder for those of us with older cars with CIC Pro Nav that 2017-2 maps are now available

The torrent file is available at bmwfsc.ca

If using the key generator that uses the lookup.xml file you need the following bit, the important bit is the 0028002B :

It took around 4 hours to download the 20 odd gigabytes.

I already had my FSC file ready to I could generate a key straight away

I used a single 32GB USB stick.

Once plugged in to the glovebox USB the idrive will recognise the new update after abouit 30 secs or so and you are prompted to start the upgrade. It took perhaps 45 mins

Thanks. Mine is a Dec 14 and never been updated as I'm a complete feckwit when it comes to anything that resembles technical. Could you tell me in very basic terms what I do to get updated. I don't mind paying of course but ideally not the crazy labour fees from bmw.

Thanks for that Sasquartch - what version of 7z (or winzip) did you use to unzip the contents - the latest available?

I always seem to have issues when unzipping / extracting them depending upon the version of the unzip software that I use.

I just used the latest version of 7-zip

I just right clicked on the downloaded .7z file and selected open archive - all seemed to work OK for me

I am not sure a 2014 car has CIC

If you have NBT then I think once you have the FSC file (you need to extract from car using esys) the procedure is similar

All the information you need is in the coding forum

I can extract your FSC code for you if you fancy a trip to Herts - but all Ive done is follow the various guides in the coding forum

Note that all this site hosts is a torrent file.

You need to install something like uTorrent to use it. If you're not aware a torrent is a peer-to-peer method of file sharing (like the old limewire and napster music sharing was a few years ago)

You'll still need to generate the code (I assume you mean you already have the FSC file) - hence the extract from the lookup.xml that I put in my first post

If you can post an image of your Nav version information we can see which map files you need

When in Navigation press the option button on the idrive controller and scroll down, I think the last option will report your map version and details

Sorry to be a pain Sasquarch but did you get a warning message from 7 zip saying that there was some data after the end of the payload data?

I am usingthe latest version of the 64 bit 7 zip and get this message - not had time to try the update in the car yet though but I think that it will fail if I get this message after unzipping?

No, I didn't get any warnings.

I'd suggest right clicking on the downloaded file and select 7-Zip, Test Archive. My guess is something's corrupted

Have you downloaded the same maps as me ? If so I can check the byte sizes etc to see if there's any mismatch. Alternatively I can copy the data onto a USB stick if you wanted to post me one.

Thanks for that sasquartch - I tried unzipping using WinRAR and that did not give me any errors so I will test that first later today in the car.

I did the test archive yesterday and it also gave me this warning - the download did not say it had any issues but maybe something has got corrupted as you say.

Thanks for the offer to copy it onto a USB - I might take you up on it if this fails.

If anyone knows an alternative source please share.

It probably wont be that long before 2018 maps start becoming available
