But then again, this post made it worthwhile - Lobb 'almost' apologising. I've already secured a place in our Dutch or Belgian office in my current role and have eyes on my next role circa 2019/20 in California

None of them really know the score for and against, they both made things up they are as bad as each other. I've said it before and say it again the EU want others to be discouraged.
What I do know for sure, is as far as global trade the EU is very small in the global picture and it would be naive to put all your eggs in this basket, people are afraid of change. I hate the targeting of Europeans Polish etc etc, these are the people that are more likely to integrate and not impose their own ways/religions unlike others! |

I'm all for the EU if Westminster disbands and local governments work directly with Brussels, and Brussels reforms the entire government away from one where unelected (by the populace) officials act as executives.
Since that won't happen, you'd have to be bonkers to pay for two toe-stepping, farcical, out of touch, borderline dictatorial governments. The one in Westminster is enough, and at least we can pull their ears via our locally elected MPs. Euro MPs are about 4x less numerous per voter iirc. That's not ideal. Since the EU gov is about as opaque as they come, and too much power is concentrated in unelected representatives, and just look at what the Troika did in Greece, AND how Italy, Spain and others are struggling in the EZ... you'd have to really like the idea of being ruled by borderline dictators who run a scheme of perpetual failures. The UK gov isn't perfect, but the EU politicos are an even bigger joke. |

And who pays a net positive contribution to the EU so they can spend money on an EU gps? It's just our money coming back to create jobs making something we don't really need. Put 40,000 people into work building all the proposed roads we abandoned in the 80s, the absence of which means increased pollution and commuting costs and reduced commercial and industrial efficiency. Simply burning away money which could be spent on productive economic activity. But no. Gps. We need more accurate gps. At huge cost. Yes great, but fix the fundamentals first! |

Whilst I voted to remain, the bed wetting from re-moaners about the result is very embarrassing.

I don't hold much faith in arriving at the bountiful promised land which some leave voters claim exists, but for the sake of us all I dearly hope to be proven wrong. It appears to me we're all very much being taken for a ride by the media and political elite who are so keen for us to exit the EU to feather their own nests. It's the only rationale I can come up with for the ridiculous 'will of the people' nonsense which seems to have declared not leaving the EU as a thought crime. I find it very strange that people claim to care about democracy whilst telling people they have no right to disagree and must 'get on board' with Brexit rather than continue to disagree... |

I agree and, picking-up on my point above, I actually think any MP who truly believes the decision to leave is wrong should vote accordingly on Brexit motions in the House of Commons. They are after all meant to be representatives not delegates and if, with the benefit of greater information, they decide not to support Brexit they're arguably doing their job. It is then up to their constituents to back them or sack them at the next election. Last edited by JNW1; 11-22-2017 at 08:15 AM.. |

I'm not sure why this behaviour would be exhibited if there wasn't a strong desire by the top 1% of society (some of which are or control the political elite) to manipulate the country into Brexit for their own gains. |

Well the latest Brexit news is the EU commission has told 5 UK cities they can't participate in the Euro city of culture. Despite Norway and Iceland participating in the past...both of which are not in the EU.
They waited until after they had submitted there bids and spent a load of money to tell them this.. Well if we ever did have another vote I can see many votes going towards the EU from those cities. |

Well yes seems so.
But the other point is it was a pre arranged agreement apparently for 2023 ..I think . Which they have now reneged on but during these negotiations they have made a point of wanting us to honour things we have agreed way in to the future and pay them for it...does not seem to go both ways.... |
