My new 330e Glacier Silver
Hi all,
Been lurking for a little while but now finally getting to post. I picked up my new 330e in September and am really quite pleased with it. The car was a showroom model so I had no choice in the spec but to say I got it at a ridiculous price is an understatement. And with that said, it's pretty much the exact colour/wheel/interior/spec combo I'd have bought save for one or two extras. It had 20km on the clock so it obviously went around the block a couple of times. But as it was a new car it qualified for the grants and other bits and bobs the Irish government throw your way. Namely a €7500 grant, a free supplied and fitted home charging point and free use - for now - of the public charging network. So, the spec; As you can see it has the M-Sport plus pack or whatever they call it. Meaning the 19" alloys, the M-Sport brakes, the HK hifi and whatever else. It also has the Navigation Pro Plus pack with the HUD and with all connected drive features enabled. Inside i Inside there's black leather with oyster piping, heated and electric. There's self parking/rear camera and active cruise. Now, what it does not have that I'd have ordered - enhanced bluetooth and wireless charging (i've since coded most all of the features I want inc. office). Folding/dimming mirrors. Silly it's not standard - the dimming bit anyway. Convenience/storage pack - why not? And perhaps top view instead of rear view. But again, the discount was simply too good to walk away from - as in €18500 of the list price. It's all about timing really. Was two months after the 172 sales window here in Ireland, and with the Shadowlines beginning to hit the rooms, they were really 'motivated' to move it on. So there it is... I'll follow up next with my thoughts on the car itself. The pic was taken the day I collected - it was a dirty day in Dublin. Last edited by VictorRomeo; 11-21-2017 at 11:02 AM.. |

Been thinking of a 330e when the 2015 328 lease is up. What can you tell me about the drivability and everyday use?
Any quirks or power lacking? |

My commute is 20km each way and I can charge in work. About 6km is motorway, so my commute works out at about 80% electric and 20% petrol. I will use petrol on the motorway - acceleration and driving at speed. My overall average fuel consumption is a little less than 3l per 100km. So bottom line is i've slashed my fuel bills. The electric motor is amazing around town. It's got instant torque so it never feels slow. The opposite in fact. In ways it feels like a peppy city car. It's my first BMW so my frame of reference is narrow. My last car was a VW CC 177BHP Diesel. To me that car was quick enough - think 320D performance. The 330E is a different ballgame. To me it's very fast and very quick. Performance - spec wise - is identical to the 330i. I've read that folks really like it as it's better balanced. The batteries in the back have it hit that magical 50:50 weight distribution. I will say this though, push hard and while rewarding and fun, your fuel consumption will rocket. Such is life! So, at the end of the day it's down to your driving patterns and if you'll get the best bang for your buck. |
