The subject has been covered in some detail:

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...ighlight=carly

I have the Carly Pro app and iOS wifi dongle and have used it to code a number of items on my F31:
- ASS
- door lights on reverse
- fog lights on opening
- 5 indicator flashes on stalk one touch
- various changes to the wash/ wipe for screens and headlights

However, its functionality is limited, so if you want all the options you'll need the enet cable and e-sys.

So is Carly a simplistic version of E-SYS?

It's an app, which you connect with the bluetooth dongle to your OBD port. You can then connect to the car, and through pre-coded coding options on the app you can can turn on/off things, change things. It is very clear what you are doing (Like "Auto-stop-start on/off" etc).

I used it on the F30 and previous E90 and liked it.

It’s a useful app, but…

Every time I come to use it, it will not work until you have connected to the internet and installed some update or other.
I have it installed on a Nexus 7 google thingy, which only has wifi access to the internet.

Really pisses me off when I come to use it and can’t until I update it. (Cant do that in the car - have to go to some area with wifi access).

Some of the extras which are additional cost are taking the piss as well.
Service Reset.
That can be done without using anything but the trip oddometer button on the dashboard!
And they want to charge you extra for it!!
It now nags me to upgrade to their Bluetooth module2 module.

Piss takers.
