Software update

Just tried the update from http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/con...re_update.html

I've tried a 2GB FAT32 drive, with just this one update file on it UPD05074.bin and it says not compatible etc

I plug the USB stick in the armrest port as doesnt appear to be in the glovebox.

Any ideas?

It must be either a wrong file or you are currently running the latest software already.

I updated my car without issue, however I used the UK site

Also are you sure your VIN is correct ?

What is your current version ?

Your car should auto update over the air, you should not need those files.

Your car should auto update over the air, you should not need those files.

Depends when his car was built. Mine is March 2015 and I was told mine has OTA updates - it does not

Your car should auto update over the air, you should not need those files.

Are you thinking of the map updates? He's trying the bt & usb firmware update.

Mine don't either, had to use USB update for bluetooth.

Could be, mine updates and reboots, not sure what is updated TBH.

So tried both files off the UK site which were different (put them both on USB pen), said the same incompatible with this car.!

Had the same issue, have you tried formatting the usb stick? I formatted the stick re-downloaded the file and tried again. Worked that time!

I've seen some people say about updating the software for the engine, gearbox and suspension. All seem to be able to do coding but where did they get the software updates from as I'd like to update those areas of my car too

I think you can update the software (ie flashing ECU's) with e-sys

You do need to have the full version of the pszdata files which are a VERY big download.

Id suggest contacting shawnsheridan for advice

Hi can anyone help, I'm trying to download an idrive software update for my BMW but I get an error message on the downloads page 'The Vehicle Identification Number you entered is not correct. Please check your entry'

however its 100% correct and I've tried multiple time

I have the 6NH (basic USB interface)vehicle option. in the I drive interface I have the option for a download, currently on version ME-007.001.005.

does anyone know what is the latest version?

I'm also trying to play music from my IPhone SE through Idrive. I understand that I need a Music/Media adapter, is this correct. where can these be purchased?

I keep getting invalid VIN even though it is 100% correct.

EDIT - Just tried the VIn from my friends new BMW and that doesn't work either. Same error.
