Describes me to a "T" as well...For both F'30 and F'10 which are completely off my radar for next vehicle.
This GC has a little sexy to it, has some nice dimensions from my vantage point..I expect individual options to be announced and to your point, a next generation to the N55 as well. Quote:

SPORT Automatic is standard, but one picture shows their standard automatic trans shift lever?
Not sure how a 435GC that is heavier than than a 335i has a quicker 0-60...

Hopefully they will have a M version of the 4 series GC. I hope by then they have figured out how to make the cabin creak a little less.

I'm starting to dislike very much how BMW is following Audi steps. BMW has been the benchmark for many generations but right now from engine choices to vehicle nomenclatures and even vehicles themselves, BMW just does what Audi does. Makes me wonder if Audi is the new benchmark in the market or in BMW's eyes.
This vehicle went from Sexy to Daddy in a heartbeat. While I like this car, it just isn't a Gran Coupe. A Gran Coupe is a sedan (or four door version) of the same series coupe model. That's it. Nothing changes from that concept. This unfortunately is not. Does the 4-series have a hatch door? No! BMW made an incredibly design with the 6GC, but this unfortunately is not a Gran Coupe. They can call what they want, and psychologically attract buyers thinking this is a much cooler design but to me, is not. This went from being a sexy four door option for young executive buyers to a four door option for dads. This became a sexy wagon instead of a sexy sedan how it should be. While the car still looks great, it just isn't a Gran Coupe. This is just a sexier 3GT model. I am very disappointed and I'm actually becoming very disassociated with the BMW brand after owning BMWs my entire life.

Wasn't a fan of the 4 series coupe. Not a fan of this either. The boomerang, the much shorter tail than the concept, the much too obvious hatch with its resemblance to the 3GT...meh
Much prefer the f30. However, it will be interesting to see an M4 GC (if they decide to make one) I was considering the new m3 because of the 4 doors, but it looks too much like the 3 series to me and I think by the time my lease on the f30 is done, I'll be bored with the look so an M4 GC would be an interesting contender. |

Yikes. That's an odd choice for BMW considering we're the largest market for MT... Maybe an effort to keep purists happy with their F30?

I think both Jason and Scott mentioned there are no plans for a M4GC and Jason said that's from a very reliable source. I also think we would have seen test cars of the M version already if it was coming.
Reasons for not having one: no one else offers anything like it so maybe it's not needed, and it would just take sales away from the F80 and F82 while only adding to development costs (they feel if someone looking at a M3 against a C63 or ATS-V will not be swayed by a M4GC and they may be right). I don't think anyone has plans of a 4 door gran coupe the size of the F36. Reasons for it: if you are going to make a heavy ass convertible M4 why not the GC? There Are many F30 owners looking to get a M3/M4 in the future but want something that looks different from their current car and the M4GC would be perfect. I am one of those (don't want to mess with car seats in the regular coupe). The F36 could be considered the flagship of the 3/4 series so it deserves a. M version. Also the M version would be the only way to get Merino leather in the US which a car like this should have as an option. |
