Suck it up, she is ur wife.

Otherwise don't let her drive it.

My wife know how I am, she even tells me she is sorry as she could find a good parking space.

Kiss her and say you love her.

Then go somewhere you're alone and crack open a bottle of Jack Daniels and empty it.

"How do you handle when the wife curbs the wheels?"

Like a man. Suck it up and tell her it wasn't her fault and move on.

Look for a nice set of aftermarket wheels. Tell her you were thinking of doing it anyway.

And tell her it's just a car. You can replace the wheels. Not her.

Gabe...Been there done that man... At least she owned it and you didn't just walk out to the car and find it. Rims can be repaired... Just tell her stuff happens and use it as an excuse to buy something for the car to make it feel all better and remember how much you paid for the rims (he got a steal on them)

Yep, either don't let her drive it, or just suck it up and get a new wheel. Nothing can be said. Good thing is she knew it would bother you and felt bad about it. Life is short, love your wife.

Like the other comments but also worth getting the cosmetic damage insurance for the rims to cover repairs. I think it's $180 per rim to repair. Most curb rash can be fixed.

Geez you guys are harsh...

OP: For a birthday present, take her to an HPDE event or a driving skills course, and teach her how to handle the car. Not exactly a "fix" for curbed wheels but it will make you feel better; give her better driving skills; and invite her into your "car world" a bit more.

She may even find she really enjoys it.

After the first couple of curbed wheels I got used to it and now accept it as a recurring fact of life. And she accepts that I devote more time and money to cars than most people.

Moreover, I'm thrilled she really enjoys driving the 340ix and watch and listen every morning as she pulls away in it.

I like Uber_Commuter's idea and will plan to take her to a car handling course or friendly track event. Almost forgot how much she enjoyed a BMW Drive for a Cause event we went to last year. She had a lot more balls hitting the throttle of that 650i.

Divorce is not an option. Finding someone who could drive stick was hard enough the first time around.

Exactly. You thank her for letting you know, and find a good wheel repair shop. They can fix up cosmetic damage perfectly for far less money than a new wheel.

I taught my wife to drive stick the year we were married. She has always been a really good driver. I don't think she has ever curbed a wheel on my car, but I have.... and I hate myself for it
And she drives real 4x4 SUVs, so curbing those is near impossible.

I encourage her to drive my M3 constantly, but she was so intimidated by the turbos on the 135i that she has been very reluctant. I try to assure her this car is more like the Mustang GT she learned on but, almost 3 years now and she hasn't driven it once. I will work a little harder this season.
