In August, the car will be 1 year old. I ordered the OEM glossy black kidney grilles. They are coming today. I'm very excited for those. I want to tint it 32% (legal tint % in Georgia). I also want to install an aftermarket spoiler lip that I've been looking at online. My father got me this car on my 17th birthday- he's the one that paid for it. Hopefully he'll be okay with these mods lol. I just told him about the grilles, and he says I paid too much (I technically got it for free because I was given a lot of Amazon gift cards). I payed $120 which is like $30 less than what it would have been if I had gotten it from my dealer. I bought these brand new on Amazon from a BMW dealership in Colorado lol. Basically, everything depends on my father. I will update this in 2-3 days to let everyone know what my father says. Hopefully he says yes. I'd hate to have to return it. I also might just keep it so that I can install it at a later time (maybe 1-2 years). As for the tint, he said yes. We just haven't gotten around to do it yet. It will cost ~$500 for a really good tint here, and my dad said yes only if it is high quality material. As for the spoiler lip, I'm too scared to ask lol. I'll ask that after a month or two. I payed for the grilles myself, and I will pay for the spoiler lip myself. The tint will be paid for by my father. The reason I'm paying for the grilles and spoiler lip is because I already know my dad will be on the edge about it, and I know it will be worse if he sees it on his credit card statement lol. I forgot to mention that the spoiler lip I would get would be Jet Black (#668). It's on eBay for $86.

So, today, I installed the glossy black kidney grilles. It took me 15 minutes. The hard part was fitting my arm behind the bumper. My wrist is still sore, and I have a bruise on my arm, but it was worth it lol.

Cool! Looks like the one I have, it says on the sticker it's like $230, so you got a good deal and will help with residual value as it is oem. If you have $500 to spare I would forego the tint and get a JB4 instead. The tune will wake the car up, real bang for the buck and relatively easy to install as a diy project or you can have someone install it. You can always disable it or try different tunes from the app via Bluetooth to see what works for you. You can always get the tint later but not sure what a black in a black car tint would be like, maybe it will look cool blacked out.

I intend on getting the Dinan Stage 1 tune after a few years. I need the tint asap. I'm from Atl, GA, and the heat and sun here is crazy. It is way too bright. I would get the car tinted on all sides. Also, I have tan leather which makes the car look not as dark from the outside.

If his Dad is iffy on a spoiler, I'd say it's safe to bet he'd flip his ever livin' schitt over a piggyback tune, lmao.

At 17 I paid for my own car (not because I wanted to, but because my parents wouldn't buy me one), let alone have my Dad buy me an effin' BMW! Well done.

Looks like there's a seller selling one for $199 just posted on the forum so maybe you can get both!

Exactly lmao. Believe it or not, he was iffy about the glossy black kidney grilles! I would've been fine no matter what car I got. I'm just glad I have one lol.

It's a small amount of money you could get from your couch you might be able to sneak it under the radar.

Tint'll look good, as the grill does now too (loathe chrome kidneys personally so good call). Mine come in a few weeks. Seen the install and it's a TIGHT fit getting behind the front bumper to get those effin' clips. Not looking forward to that, but it has to be done!

Up here the front windows are illegal to tint, so if they are there too, be careful as it's not worth the ticket only to have them removed. *channelling my inner Dad currently when typing that*

Generally if it's not too dark for the cops to see through it they won't issue a citation.

Yeah, I tinted mine knowing they're illegal, but it's such a light tint it's hard to tell.

Oh hell no lol. I only got my glossy back kidney grilles right now because I basically got them for free. I will be paying for all modifications myself in the future- once the car is out of warranty in a few years. My father will be paying for the tint. It was never a discussion about who pays for what. I just want it to be this way because there's really no reason for him to pay for anything else. The reason I need the tint is because I am going quite far away from home for college. I'm from Atl, GA, and the heat and sunlight is very high.

What percentage did you tint it?

Lol. It really was a pain to remove those clips. I had my cousin with me, so it was a bit easier. I got him to hold the bumper for me. But once you remove one grille, removing the other grille is really easy. Idk much about what I'm going to do about the tint. We will be inquiring about it soon.
