Not really, do you think that when the air passes through the air filter that it goes into a nice cool turbo or something? If so go put your hands on the turbo and tell me how hot that is compared to the front of your car when you're driving or the intake. The job of an intake on a turbocharged car is to suck air, not cool it, full stop. That's where the intercooler comes into play, profound concepts coming out here.

I was under the same assumption about these types of intakes, but after much research, talking to people, forums, etc I've learned that IAT (intake air temperature) is more a function of the intercooler than the air intake.

In my JB4 logging experience, it's mixed...yes you suck in MORE hot air at idle with an open element like that, so for DD light to light, you'll notice it.
On a track at 80-90mph, maybe be less significant, but again a larger IC helps as you've pointed out.

For me, the heat soak in DD stop and go makes something like this not worth the maximum FEW HP benefit you'd get.

Just order the CTS intake from Mike at Extreme Power House. They are having 20% sale on the CTS intake kit and you can get an extra 5% discount code. Paid $250.79 shipped. Normally $329.99 so I'd say that's a good deal!

Damn you BadBread!! Based on your write up I couldn't help myself but to pull the trigger on the CTS intercooler (especially after seeing the quality you get for the price!). THen that lead to me purchasing a VRSF downpipe, so thanks to you I will now be FBO before Christmas

Guess now I'll have to put BM3 on the Santa list

Thanks to badbread i also ordered my CTS FMIC a few months back, was just on Dyno it was 90F and I did 4 pulls in 4th gear and IAT went no where past 100F.

Impressive! With stock IC my temps would of been 150-180F as I recall last year Dyno runs

Installed the CTS intake today. Sounds great. Install was very straight forward. Took about an hour from the time I popped the hood to going for a test drive. Stock intake is very simple to remove. I made an install video that I will post to Youtube and link it here once I’m done editing.

I placed the order so I hope that you post video before I have them
I know it's not complicated to install but it's still nice to see someone posts diy on this new item.
