WD40 is your friend. Don't pull....you need a quick jerk. WD40 and a slide hammer worked for me....that said, one was easy and one was a PITA. I had to talk dirty to it and brace the muffler with my foot to get it to break loose. There are metal points inside that dig into the pipe.

Spray WD40 in between the tip and exhaust pipe and let it sit for a while. Then slide a thin flat head screw driver in the gap where you sprayed and push on clip that holds tip in place. Do this while twisting and it will come off pretty easily

Just did my 335, eb2. Thanks for the idea. I just used a rubber mallet on the back pointy/bottom side. Worked like a champ.

Looks great! A guy down the road has these and I love the look. I just emailed my parts manager. I will put these one once I get my car at the beginning of Feb.

I changed my 328 chrome tips. It was so damn easy.
Used the WD40 as suggested, let it sit for a while and then twisted & pulled. No hammering required. Putting the black tips on was harder !!. Used a rubber hammmer/mallet and gently tapped them back on. So easy. Took me 15 mins or less. Last edited by secret agent; 04-27-2013 at 10:42 AM.. |

Sorry to resurrect and old thread. I've been digging for an answer to my problem and this thread is the closest I've gotten.
The first blue car shown by poster PGT is a 2013 328i M-Sport Sedan if I'm not mistaken. Tips look great, and part number is not 18307610633, but rather 18307610639 (last digit changed from 3 to 9. I'm looking for black tips for my 2011 328i Sport Coupe (e92 LCI). Unfortunately, I'm not having any luck combing the e90 forums so I've ventured out to the 1, M, and other 3 forums. Does anyone know if the exhaust tip diameter of a 2013 M-Sport Sedan is the same as a 2011 Sport Coupe? If so, that answers my question and I'll be ordering these tips immediately. Unfortunately, I've been googling for an hour and can't find anything definitive or trustworthy. Cheers, Chad |
