Selma Front M Sport Bumper Install vs OEM Bumper Install
I'm looking to do the M-Sport front bumper conversion on my 320 and noticed there are two choices to go. Either 3rd party (i.e. Selma) or OEM. What I find interesting is the additional parts needed if you go down the OEM route. While looking at the Selma kit that states it includes all the necessary mounting hardware, it seems to uses far less parts? Any idea why the 3rd party bumper requires less parts to install? Seems like there are over 20 or so additional parts needed with an OEM installation compared to maybe 8-10 parts with 3rd party? Does a 3rd part install forgo using some parts like the multiple air ducts, deformation elements, support brackets etc?

thats a good point.
Many have done the conversion (to M sport) here using Selma bumpers and most of them if not all fit perfectly with very little to no hick ups

The Selma kit and other replicas are designed to fit like the stock bumper. The oem kit has extra pieces and grills and clips etc that are not designed to be plug and play. Having said that, I've used a Selma kit on my E90 with no issues

No, I had a bodyshop do it only because it was enough of a pain to get a friend's truck to take the bumper to the shop for painting. I figured I'd just pay them for the labor. Honestly it's not hard to install a bumper yourself if you can safely transport it back and forth. It'll take maybe 2 hours.

I have purchased from Selma twice now. First for our F30 328i, the MSport front and rear bumper replica and my body shop said the quality was near OEM. Perfect fit and finish with all of the parts needed and needed very little prep to paint. The second for my F30 335i I got from Selma was the new M3/M4 kit, same thing, great fit and finish with all of the parts needed. It was a little trickier but amazing quality

Is Selma what is sold by **********s? If not where are you all procuring this from and are you getting the whole front/back/sides package? My rear bumper was damaged and I am looking to POSSIBLY use this kit (**********s) as it's only a few hundred more than a new OEM (non-msport) rear bumper and my front bumper has seen better days to boot. So all in with labor it is 5-700 more, 1k tops if there are any unforeseen costs. and I get a like new car?? LOL

While my experience isn't with the F30 specifically, Selma sells a lot of "Good Go" products. In fact, the F30 MPerformance lip that I purchased from them was "Good Go" and it fit great. On my E90, I used a "Good Go" M3 conversion front bumper and fitment was awesome, though the underside cover didn't match up perfectly and some air ducts had to be removed. You will likely have the same minor issues from a regular to MSport bumper swaps due to the air ducts being different and/or non-existent on the regular one. This is likely the reason for the addt'l parts on the OEM swap.

I have bought the OEM front bumper + lip from another user. The Selma one will fit and look nice about 95 % but there are small fitment gaps (from what I seen). I wouldnt worry though, the installation process is a bit more of a headache for OEM and a lot more $ for little imperfections.

Interesting. I'm tryin to get it from another vendor which includes the hardware, brackets, etc. I had the same questions to determine which parts fit directly from the existing bumper and if I needed to buy any additional parts that would be missing or needed to be changed.

Did you buy the parts OEM and how much wallet damage for all that?

I just did the front and rear conversion to my 320i, I ended up buying the parts all separately and non-oem to save money. I spent a total of $604.19 then $350 to paint. My car was rear ended at less than 5MPH and the shops wanted $800+ to replace the stock rear bumper, i took the cash and ended up spending less than $225 out of pocket.
