what does the dealer have to do besides pull off the white stuff?
dealers here not open Sunday, so I want it Saturday.
pretty sure insurance covers a new car for a week under existing policy.
Wait, those dates make no sense! No way it left Germany 6/20 and hit Baltimore 6/6. If it left Germany 6/6 and hit Baltimore 6/20 that'd make sense. And 8 days to dealer from Baltimore is also within the 5-10 that is normal. Only weird delay on yours is the 2/24 order to 6/7 finish.

If it makes you feel better I ordered a 2013 WRX on 12/10/12, i took delivery on it on 5/14/13. Sold that car 9 months later... I waited for 1/3 of the period from when I ordered it to sold it!

Hmmmm.... 435 M Sport Vert. Ordered April 1st (perhaps that should have been an omen), order documented April 4th, production began June 19, still in production as of today (June 24) 80 days. BMWNA has provided four lame excuses. Hope to see it before September. Contrast my Z4 with exactly 2 months from order to strapped on my butt.

Gee. Thats bad. I guess I shouldn't complain then. Hope your car starts to move quicker. It only takes 5 days to build a car. Actually that is the most straight forward thing. Everything else is a waiting game.

Their feeble attempts claim: 1) there was a problem with convertible tops; 2) there was a problem with emissions control (my CA tells me another fellow's 428 has been sitting in Cali port for six weeks for that reason, but it only affects 428's); 3) there was a problem with wheel supplier; 4) there was a problem with tire supplier. My complaint to BMWNA, asking for a "no BS" answer hasn't proven fruitfull - I'm still waiting for the promised explanation!! Somewhat frustrating.

Same issues
Ordered 5/2
Build completed 6/6
Was not released to carrier until yesterday
BMW USA has no answer - Claims only back orders were for ceramic brakes.
My dealer still does not have an answer as to why the care sat at the factory for almost 3 weeks after build allegedly finished.
At least my 435 conv. is finally on the way

Hey guys! Short time lurker, first time poster! My F36 428GC Lux xDrive was ordered on June 2 and left port in Bremerhaven yesterday afternoon on the Independence II. Expected to hit NYNJ on July 9 for transport to a Cape Cod dealer. I'll make a nice little weekend of taking the train down and driving around the Cape before dragging back home to Boston.

This will be my first BMW, and I am upgrading from the other small German "four door coupe." Given I've topped out of their small model lineup, I thought it was time to move up a step or two in brand. There also doesn't seem to be any other vehicle in the small/mid class that offers the same options at a competitive price point. The VW CC in its higher trim was a HUGE value play and made a lot of sense for me at the time. Alas, my lease is expiring and I feel it is time to move on.

I open-mindedly cross-shopped the Q50, Genesis, the A3/4/5, and the C before settling on the 428 - and the two-door at that. When I was ready to order, first allocations for the four-door were just becoming available for June production runs. Knowing this car resolved all of the practicality concerns I had with the coupe, and having a sense that I would have (at least for a time) a pretty unique and unusual vehicle, I jumped at the chance. I gave up a solid deal on a loaded demo F32 (around 10% off MSRP with ~1,000mi) in order to get the car I wanted.

My CCA card has already arrived which I have stored in the box with my key fob folio, and I'm just counting down the days until I can pick up the car next month.

I wanted to make sure I said hello for the first time to the community which informed and influenced my buying decision!!

If I'm reading this correctly, 'discharged' means my car was discharged from the VPC!? If I was in and out of the VPC in a day I'm going to jump for joy

you're right

it left Germany 5/20 and arrived in Baltimore 6/6
it's due at the dealer today or tomorrow, so it's 20-21 days in the US--way below average
8 days would be above average it seems from recent events

Just got this from the dealer this AM. Still in VPC, I assume the 'work order' is the black grille, but should be on a truck in a couple days..

I just found out why the car sat on the lot for 8 days before they did issue a work order. Stupid customs didn't release the car for 7 days. Now my issues why is taking so long to put on a stupid grill.

No ED. Just regular order. I am not surprised to see customs take their sweet time especially from NJ.

Interesting. I thought customs was processed while we were still on the boat.

That would be the smart thing to do, but I wouldn't know. I remember reading back in this thread some one had issue with customs taking their sweet time.

Deanesn, does it read "quantity 1" after the dates of the status? When I go to the WW website it says customs release and liner release but doesn't say "quantity 1" after them like it does when it says "booked." I am asking this because it seems kinda early for my car to be released from customs. The ship arrived late last night and it already is posted that it has been released from customs..sounds too good to be true.

No 1 after customs. If it says it was release I would assume so. I was on TOSCA. It might seems customs have preferences towards boats.

Some good news. My car has been release for transit. The automated system did say it was already in transit but when I spoke to customer rep they said it was still at VPC so I am guessing it is waiting on transportation at this point. Estimated delivery at dealer is tomorrow (highly unlikely). It would be nice if I can get my car by Saturday because I cannot endure another weekend without a car.
