330i xDrive GT - switching to non-run flats
Can anyone who has made the switch to non-run flat tires (switching to either Continental DWS06 Plus or Michelin Pilot Sport AS4) recommend a good fix-a-flat / tire compressor combo, either from BMW or perhaps Slime?
Appreciate any recommendations. |

I have the Contis and have been extremely satisfied with them over the PSAS4's. I do have road hazard insurance for the tires, as well as roadside assistance and travel insurance.
I do have a can of fix-a-flat and a Ryobi One+ 18V cordless inflator, P737D, (tool only is about $30, tool/battery/charger is about $90-120). I also recommend getting an in-vehicle charging station, model P131, (about $45) as well. I have used these Ryobi inflators for more than a decade and they are fairly robust. They take up very little space, I have an inflator, in-vehicle charger and 2 batteries in my BMW, and setup in my Tacoma TRD Off-Road. To be fair, when I take the Taco seriously off-road, I do pack a small 2-gallon tank with a 12v compressor. You could get a cordless DeWalt or Milwaukee inflator, but those are much larger, much more expensive and will not fit in the underfloor storage area.

I have FixaFlat or Slime in each car with an inexpensive plug in compressor. It's come in handy on the other 2 cars, but with the GT I hit a pothole that tore up the sidewall and trashed the suspension. Not sure runflats would have saved anything.

I have fix a flat, a tire repair kit, and a pump, along with a jack and wrench. I still toss a compact spare into the trunk when I'm driving out of town.
