Anyone on Tugela?

I got into production week 2 commencing 7th jan
Car build commenced 10th jan
Car received at terminal in Durban 17th jan 3pm
Tugela departs on 18th jan bound for reunion island, then oz

Freemantle WA arrival 1st feb
Melbourne VIC 6th feb
Port Kembla NSW 9th feb!

Anyone else on this ship?

Must say the build was very quick. It sounded like the wait to the interior build worshop from external shell workshop would have taken a while but I didn't.

This afternoon the Tugela was approaching the West Australian coast when i left the office. Now i am home it has been turned back out to sea!

What the heck? The port does not look that busy!

All i can think of now is that it will not leave Freemantle 2nd Feb as originally scheduled.

Sigh.

Hi Ckau, my 328 is on it by error! Mine was a December production but they stuffed up and didn't load on the previous ship.

Looks like it's anchored just outside Rottnest island for tonight. 1 day delay docking at Freemantle... and hence at least a day's delay to Port Kembla NSW

Looking on the freemantle harbourcam site, looks as though the docks are actually full tonight.

http://www.fremantleports.com.au/Ope...s/default.aspx

I just crosscheck against marinetraffic.com and yup... all bases loaded tonight which is why it hasn't docked on time.

Well it is docked now. Time to mark off the milestone in your delivery and start the final phase of your countdown.

So just an update... for record purposes for Australian delivery to Sydney for the BMW F30 has taken 3 days to get from port through customs. Then another 6 days somehow to the dealer.... that's a total of 9 days from Port Kembla to the Sydney based dealer !!

Incidentally (and kinda not as relevant to the main shipping time story) the dealer is so busy, they won't be able to turn the car around for another 10 days! That's 3 weeks of mucking around from the port, customs, dealer preparations, to customer pickup.

This is my first make to order vehicle and my first BMW. Thought to leave this post as reference for other Australian deliveries.

I believe NK80's vehicle through customs and the Perth based dealer took a touch over 2 weeks from port to pickup.

You are right. Got the call from the dealership that my car was ready for pick up last Friday which I advised would be able to pick up Saturday the next day. Mind you I specifically asked that they do not detail the car in anyway so picked it up a bit dirty with the plastics still on it. That might of made the delivery a bit quicker? Got it detailed and opticoated today and tint next week. Will post pics then.
