Question about wires

Im trying to wire a light strip to the car via an add a circuit. I tested it and everything works, but since ill be adding this near the ac trim, i need extra wire in order to run it back to the rear fuse box. The light strip has 24 gauge (AWG) red/black wires. The only other wires i could find were 22 gauge.

My question is, is wiring the 22 gauge to the 24 gauge wire safe? The amps drawn from the light strip are very few and since the wire i bought comes with 24 gauge wires, I'm sure it'll be able to handle it.

Ive read that its Ok to go from a higher gauge to a lower gauge and not the other way around, but I just wanna be safe.

Yep, perfectly fine to use 22 AWG wire as a substitute for 24 AWG wire.

That looks really cool. Where did you get the light strip from?
