i guess you are on personal not business... I am using it for business so i have to finance for chattel mortgage or lease term with full amount or close to full amount.

that could be different in terms of interest rate as well.

yup, I got the car for private use, work out that if I get the loan for 25k, after 4 years will end up paying a few k in interests so might as well pay up front now and save that.

Hey all, I just ordered a 328i in mid July and due to arrive in mid October in Melbourne, I was just wondering would my build be of the MY 2014 range that includes the update idrive touch? My dealer wasn't sure about it and he thinks it's still MY13.5 but I heard MY 2014 starts production in July 2013. Anyone know?

Should be. Did your dealer mention any production date? All my14 start in July. Most of the au my14 arrives in September. Push your dealer to get my14 spec.

No I didnt ask about production date, but since I only signed a contract on 22nd July it should be built sometime after that I presume? How does this work anyway? Do all the build orders automatically become MY14 builds after the orders are submitted past a certain date? Or can you still request for MY13 builds after MY14 production starts?

Seeing as mine doesn't get delivered until 15th October I would hope it falls in the MY14 range, unless most of the time between now and then is spent on shipping the car here instead of waiting to be built...

Yeah. Once they re-tool the assembly lines, there's no going back.

i vaguely remembered the next production slot for BMW Sydney for F30/31 is in September for MY14 models. it only takes

1 week max to manufacture my F31 in Munich,
1 week to the Port and
almost 2 months on the sail across to Sydney. Germany-S Africa-perth/melbourne/sydney/brisbane.
1 week to clear customs
1 week for car preparation before delivery in my case

My dealer in Perth is adamant that MY14 production starts in August for the F30, except the Hybrid which was July. I still don't have any slot details :-(

At least mine will be first stop after it departs SA! Dealer is still hoping for a Sept delivery, which it better be 'cos my finance and rego expires on the 135 in late Sept!

yeah i know previous years the MY changes occur in september, when you sell on carsales.com.au it asks you to choose model based on year and then year september..for example it's either a 2008 or a 2008 september (which bumps it up to a MY2009)

Not sure why this year people are saying July? I also asked BMW Australia but they also said I should be getting the idrive touch if I ordered in July...I have no idea who is right...

that timeframe sounds about right since I ordered in mid july it is scheduled to arrive in mid October, adds up to your 3 months timeframe.

okay apparently my car is in production in SA plant and will finish in week 34 (2 weeks from now).

the sales person couldn't tell me when production started...so how long does it take to build the car? If it started on August 1st, it would have taken 3 weeks by the time its built...if in July even longer...

Don't worry, it doesn't take long at all.

It has been stated many times in the main forum that MY14 production commenced in July.

You'll have the MY14 with the touch IDrive.

that's correct, did you get the VIN number from dealer, then go to BMWVIN.com to check your VIN number for the parts,

Got a txt from my dealer with the VIN just now, went and check online, it said the build date is 1st of August, does this mean my car will be 2014 build?

Also dealer said delivery is mid September, hope he's right

actually if you look at the official pricing order guide for MY14 it says 328i sedan in SA starts 08/13 but Munich starts 07/13

but then thats for US dont know about AUS

always hate that the dealer exactly know what is going on but not make it transparent to the buyer. Are you guys getting custom built specification or something they can get it locally exchanged, like the line and other cosmetics?
