Ended up getting Remus Quads for 320d. A little bit of sound improvement outside (wasn't really expecting much anyway just wanted quads , minimal sound change inside, unless revving high. Would've prefered the black/carbon tips but the 320d kit didn't come with them.

My verdict: if you're looking for something loud and noticeable for your diesel don't go for this, otherwise its a good option.

That looks nice! I am planning to do the same. Does the sound come different from stock 420d exhaust?

Hi SebastienDS :-)

Are they genuine parts/accessories from BMW or after market? I can't find them on the BMW UK site, accept for the 1 Series, but appreciate your post is from 2013 and they may have changed the spec.

http://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/ow...ryId=8625.html

I am taking delivery of an F32 420d xDrive M Sport in about a month and wondering if I can get BMW to fit some additional parts once it's arrived. However, not sure they will touch after market parts.

:-)

Any luck with an updated ETA? Do you know if they are accounting for the DEF tank and other obstructions where the right side tips would exit? Thanks.

Did anyone else notice that the LCI F31 320d has a twin tips now? Looks like it may be the sportline with black chrome, I wonder if we can retrofit this to the pre LCI 320d/328d?

Might be more to do with the B47 engine. The new 420d with B47 looks to have dual exhaust tips so would likely be on the 320d LCI if it ships with the new engine...

From the press release it looks like the 320d is coming with the B47, but for the NA 328d, we'll continue to get the N47 for the next three model years. Guess it doesn't make sense to federalize the new engine.

Be nice if they gave us the 6cylinder diesel in the next generation, at least for the wagons if not the sedans. But I guess we should just be happy we get a wagon period.

I see a fellow F31 fan right here in CO, and another diesel Msport as well.

I thought about crawling underneath to see about fabricating a quad on mine, but it's low on the list right now.

That reminds me, I need to update my location, I'm actually in Germany right now, but this one should be coming back to CO in a few years.

I actually got lucky with this F31, we were going to custom order but it was going to be a 3 month wait time. Dealer found this one sitting in storage in Munich that was almost the same spec, just didn't have DHP, Parking Assistant or HK. Figured it was good enough to save the wait and get some extra money off the top. I'm thinking it was an ED that someone backed out on, because it's got every package except DHP and it has the alarm system spec'd as well.

From checking around, Supersprint has a number options available, including two quads. I'm not sure if you could use the 335i diffuser and trim it or maybe use the M Performance 335i diffuser and do some trimming.

http://www.supersprint.com/ww-en/bmw...-hp-2012-.aspx

Here's hoping for a 6 cylinder next gen though.

Similar story for me, gave my dealer the order specs and sat back to wait. She called me the next day to say the exact car I wanted was already on a boat due in about a week. She contacted the dealer it was headed for and made a trade to get it for me. It was literally the exact build I wanted, talk about fate.

Those systems look nice but pricey. A lot of money to spend on what will be basically just looks. My plan was to have a local exhaust shop fabricate some pipes (do a full delete of the rear muffler), buy the 335 M-sport diffuser (or a CF version) which I am pretty sure should fit, and just buy some nice tips. Should be less than half the cost of pre-built systems. I did the same on my GTI, got a custom fabricated center mount with a Borla resonator for $500, well under the $2200 pre-packaged options.

When we picked up our F31 there was a 335 M-sport being delivered at the same time, and was parked right next to ours. I got down and took good looks at both and the diffuser looked identical. Unless they changed the mount tabs and how it attaches underneath, it SHOULD fit.

Man, I would be so happy if they gave us a 6cylinder. I love this F31, but if they were to offer a 6cylinder before my lease is up this car would be on Swapalease so fast it would make your head spin so I could order a new 6cylinder one. LOL

Let us know if you have any further questions.

These are literally just straight through pipes, albeit finished beautifully. And very expensive. Alpina use the same solution by Akropovic in their cars.

I ditched the muffler on my 335d and replaced it with a nice handmade straight through exhaust system in SS, same as the Eissanman, for roughly 400 USD. This included the tips of my choice (carbon fibre in my case) This was done by a local exhaust fabricator, and they did a wonderful, very professional job. Took roughly 4 hours.

There is a more throat to the exhaust note, and no intrusive drone, as you would get on a petrol model. Throttle pick up is improved too because back pressure on the turbo is reduced so much which is a nice bonus.

Very good looking and great sound as well, just "raw" enough in my opinion

Exactly.

You can't expect any decent sound note from a Diesel. Get your tuner to cut your current system apart and connect a second tip or get a new system and custom fit it.

Just for the looks tho, don't try to change the sound - it will still sound like a diesel.

Here's my much-delayed update on my attempt to procure a Supersprint exhaust for my 328d. Short version: After waiting for months for the unit to go into production in Italy, I finally received word from the USA central office that the unit was ready! In the meanwhile my wife and I were in the midst of moving from MA to NM, so I told SS USA to hold my unit and send it to me when I got to NM. It turns out SS USA decided never to obtain the unit from Italy, and so when I asked for it to be sent to me in NM, they found out that Italy had sold it to someone else. (I had already paid for it!)

After several more weeks of waiting, another unit arrived at my exhaust shop in Santa Fe. Lo and behold, it didn't fit my car. I returned it and got a full refund. I have to say that Al Haffner at SS USA was a pleasure to work with, and needless to say, he was mortified by how Italy screwed him and me over.

I ended up having the OEM muffler removed and having a cool set of black chrome double tips installed. The sound isn't there, but at least I got the look I wanted. To be continued...
